Karkala: Music teacher arrested for raping minor student

Karkala, Feb 19: A music teacher has been sent to judicial custody on charges of raping his minor student after kidnapping her.
The arrested is identified as Rajesh (29). He is married and has two children.
As per the information obtained, Rajesh is said to have expressed his love to a 13-year-old student and raped her. The act was committed on the promise that he would marry her, sources said.
The accused Rajesh along with his wife and two children live in a rented house in Bola. Rajesh who had learnt the music was taking classes in Belman government school twice a week, where he fell in love with his student.
A few people learnt of his behavior and chased him from the rented house in Bola two months ago, after which he shifted to Beltangady.
Even then, Rajesh somehow got in touch with the minor girl, took her to a rented room in Ajekar and then allegedly raped her.
As per the complaint filed by the victim’s father, Karkala rural police arrested the accused on February 17 and produced him in the court.
Police sources said that the accused was involved in several such incidents but as no cases were registered against him until now.
