Australia condemns Hyderabad bombings

New Delhi, Feb 22 (IANS): Pledging support for India's fight against terrorism, Australia Friday condemned the twin blasts that rocked Hyderabad killing 16 people.

Australia's Foreign Minister Bob Carr said he would be writing to his Indian counterpart Salman Khurshid "to express his support for India's efforts to prevent terrorist attacks".

"The government and people of Australia express their condolences and sympathy for victims of the bomb attacks in Hyderabad, India, on February 21," a statement by the country's foreign affairs ministry said.

"Australia condemns all acts of terrorism. These bombs appear to have been directed at innocent people, going about their daily business."

"Our thoughts are with the families and friends of those killed or wounded," added Carr.

Sixteen people died and over 100 others were injured in the blasts in Hyderabad Thursday evening.
