Congress hand in ministers' resignation: Shettar

Hubli, Feb 22 (IANS): Rattled by a spate of resignations of ministers and legislators from Karnataka's ruling BJP, Chief Minister Jagadish Shettar Friday said Congress was behind the development as it wanted to pull down his government.

"Congress is scared that it will be defeated in the coming polls (local body and assembly) and hence is engineering the resignations," Shettar told reporters a day after two more ministers quit his cabinet.

The Congress "is weak in the state and lacks leadership. It hopes that if it brings down my government, it will become strong," he said in his home town in north Karnataka, about 400 km from Bangalore.

Elections to 208 urban local bodies are scheduled for March 7 while polls to assembly are due in May.

On Thursday, Forest Minister C. P. Yogeshwar and Small Scale Industries Minister Narasimha Nayak, also known as Raju Gouda, submitted resignations to Shettar. They are keen to join Congress.

State Congress leaders have been saying that about 20 Bharatiya Janata Party legislators, including several ministers, have approached them seeking admission to the party.

Shettar said he was confident that Congress tactics would not succeed and BJP would emerge victorious in both the polls.

With the resignation of Yogeshwar and Nayak, five ministers have quit his cabinet in the last one month. The three others - C.M. Udasi, Shobha Karandlaje and Sunil Valyapure resigned last month and joined Karnataka Janata Party led by former BJP chief minister B. S. Yeddyurappa.

In the last one month, 12 BJP assembly members have also quit the house and the party while the resignations of two are pending with Speaker K.G. Bopaiah.

    Shri. Shettarji,
It is pointless blaming anybody for your Govt.failure of course you have NOT been controversial!
In Goa, BJP Government run by Mr. Manohar Parrikar is truly SECULAR.
If Karnataka BJP also followed the footsteps & governed like Goa, there would not have been any problems to BJP Government!

    Jaggu Dada,

What a childish statement. It is nothing but: you are saying that nobody should buy a chaddi from a street vendor around majestic circle or m. g. road except you and your people. It doesn't make any sense. Not only BJP, congress men. JDS men are free to buy their chaddies. You can't put any restriction or you can't void their rights from wearing a chaddi. Don't give silly statements. It doesn't suit your chair.

When opearation Kamala what was going on now it's on reversing trend. Karnataka BJP cannot manage Karnataka. You guys need to go to Gujarat and Goa to see how well Modi and Parikkar are running their respective governments. Shame on you BJP. Karnataka BJP will be responsible if they don't come to power at centre in the next general elections.

So, what is your problem? Lost majority? Simple: Take a white sheet (A4 size)and just resign. For your mistake, blaming others is not honesty. When Yeddy resigned, congress hand. When Yeddy form new party, congress hand. Couple of years ago, you and your party started the franchise of this horse trading. Buying MLA's like hot cake. Right? Only you can make business, others can't make? Do you have any licence? Did you paid any royalty?
When you make, it is Dal fry when somebody does, it is Beef fry!
Either it is dal fry or beef fry, you have to digest! No way, don't cry. After all, every dog has a day.

These BJP and its best allies like RSS, VHP, Rama Sena….etc will never allow India to develop or to be self-dependent. When Janatha Party was in majority these people spoiled all reputation. Now in Karnataka same thing is happening. Only in Gujarat it is different story because the citizens are scared of Modi’s murder plan.

Mr. Shetter is should NOT blame congress if his ministers are resigned. If he get sick why he should blame his wife? Simple logic……!!!!!! Our CM need some tution…….!!!!!

Rats always jump from sinking ship first.
Shettar knows BJP is a sinking ship, he cannot blame Congress or JDS for its pathetic track record of 5 years that is blot for all Kannadigas.
Now he is blaming others for his predecessors follies & mismanagement instead of introspecting & being brave like a Captain of sinking ship, who always goes down with the ship rather than deserting it & its occupants first.

BJP right from the inception of their govt always accused Congress for all it's follies. They are accusing Congress for KJP and now series of resignations of MLAs and ministers. This govt right from the begning it's continuation always @ doubt but some are how reached to logical end overcoming lot of bad weathers.

Mr Shettar some questions for you
1)who is responsible for DVS's dissent and accused CM having nexus with JDS/HDK/DEVE Gowda!!
2)who is responsible for ISH' dissent and he accused A.Kumar interfering all tha affairs of the party undermining Party President's role
3)CM, you along with BSY hatched a plan to dethrone DVS and some extent succeeded in sidelining both DVS and BSY!!

Under the circumstances,50% of BJP's ministers and MLAs were in Q for joining Congress and JDS!!But Congress filtering 50% from the applied which once again on hold for party men's wrath!!!

BJP can't perform with out it's strongmen BSY and now @ present has acute shortage of leadership problem which felicitated exodus of it's leaders to other party.Ambitious BJP law makers knows that with BJP they can't make there future another 25 years. BJP PARTY HAS (BJP GOVT)went of up SC to postpone the local election due to infighting with in now accusing Congress of defeat !!Indeed doublespeak..
