Udupi: 'E Nayana Nootana' musical nite in honour of Jayant Kaikini on Feb 24

Udupi, Feb 23: 'E Nayana Noothana', a romantic musical evening, dedicated to renowned Kannada film industry lyricist Jayant Kaikini will be held at BIMS, Bimanagar here on Sunday February 24 at 6 pm.

The event will feature musicians Rajgopal (guitar), Deepu (keyboard), Prakash (rhythm pad), Bhaskar (tabla/ dholak). Singers Yashwanth (season 2 winner of 'Yede Tumbi Haduvenu'), Dr Nithin (season 5 winner of Voice of Bangalore) and upcoming singing star Vaishnavi will also perform on the occasion.

While it may be common to organize shows featuring popular actors, singers or directors of the film industry, this is perhaps one of the few occasions where a lyricist is being honoured with a musical nite.

Kaikini is the one who revived Kannada film industry with his breathtaking songs. With more than 200 songs to his credit, he is known for the beauty he renders to songs with meaningful lyrics. The concept of the show was planned three years ago, hence the show is not less than a dream come true.

'E Nayana Noothana, Kaikini Chithrageethegala Jothegondu Payana...', the event name is inspired from the name of the book 'E Nayana Noothana' containing Jayant Kaikini's lyrics, compiled by Avinash Kamath. Kaikini started his career with the film ‘Chiguritha Kanasu’, and is best known for his lyrics for the film ‘Mungaru Male’.

Well-known magician and stuntman Samarth Shenoy will also perform on the occasion.

Avinash Kamath, anchor in Spandana TV will host the show.

    Excellent lyricist,novelist,short story writer,above all excellent human being.He is none other than Jayanth Kaikini.Songs of kannada hit movies "Mungaru male" and "Galipata" speak the volume of his creativity.Indeed he is not simple poet instead he is born poet.Long live Sir.
