Mangalore, Feb 23: With elections for the urban local bodies scheduled for March 7, candidates of different political parites made their way to MCC office on Saturday February 23 to file nominations amidst much fanfare and pomp.

Though instructions had been issued to the political parties to keep the process a low key affair, it did not seem to dampen their spirits or deter them from cheering their candidates with slogan-shouting and what not.

Officials from different branches have been chosen to verify and receive the nominations filed by the candidates. The 60 wards have been divided into different parts and the candidates are to submit their nominations in the area prescribed by the officials.

Only limited number of people were allowed inside the corporation office, so as to avoid congestion. Tight police security was also deployed on the spot to avoid any unwanted situations as all parties were present.

Candidates from different wards arrived along with their supporters and some even came in processions. A large crowd was gathered in front of the MCC office, shouting slogans in support of their respective parties and candidates.

Congress has not learnt any lessons from the past to study the mindset of Mangalore voters. For assy election it still chants the Christian,Muslim candidature mantra which is a great mistake it is doing. In fact Sri Shashdhar Hegde is a MLA material and he should not have made to opt for Corporatorship this time also, considering his long standing in the party, experience as corporator apart from being formar Mayor of MCC and peoneer in bring many develeopments in the city during his Mayorhip.I Only hope that Congress should change its stance this time and reserve him for Assy election.During the present MCC council also he has payed very constructive role being in opposition. He is a man always available to his ward which is well looked after by him.
He is acceptiable to all segments of the soceity and non contravertial too.

Congress is the only alternative to the Mangalore Corporation, since BJP has been supporting the illegal elements of the society. Some of the people have not got seat in BJP have jumped to JDS, example Mohan Padil, hope, people remembers the deeds and elects the Congress.

    Big slap for congis..

A court here today questioned the Delhi Police's move to impose prohibitory orders during a protest by Arvind Kejriwal and other members of Aam Aadmi Party at the Prime Minister's residence and other places here last year.

The court asked the police as to what was the "emergency" of imposing Section 144 of CrPC when the protest on the coal blocks allocation scam in August last year was on outside the PM's house and said since it is the right of citizens to protest, what was ''illegal'' in it.

Local election till recent was uncertain and finally SC gave Ultimatum to State Govt to do it or leave. In fact all parties were not interested and for various political reasons did not buy it!In other words all major parities still not prepared for this CLASS TEST.I think for all political parties including BJP, this CLASS TEST may very important as it may set trend for Assembly election result.HERE WITH ELECTION ERA STARTS IN KARNATAKA and considerable chunk of workers will get EMPLOYMENT!Though Congress ahead in survey, yet Congress should do full effort to get favorable result..
