Five cops suspended for Chikmagalur gang-rape

Chikmagalur, Feb 24 (DHNS): Five policemen, including the Sub Inspector (SI) and the assistant SI of the Aldur police station in the district, have been suspended, after a woman who was in their custody filed a complaint that she was gang-raped by three of them in Bangalore recently.

Pratap Reddy, West Zone Director General of Police (DGP), told a press conference that the personnel suspended were SI K R Shivakumar, ASI Nandini Shetty, constables K B Mahesh, Gururaj and Krithika.

Cases have been registered against the accused under various sections of the IPC. The sub-inspector and the victim had undergone medical tests. The DGP said test reports were expected in a couple of days and that the accused would be arrested if the rape was established.

Chikmagalur DySP S R Nayak will be the investigating officer for the case.

The victim, a resident of Vijayapura in the town, was arrested on the charge of stealing a gold chain at Mavinkere of Mudigere. She had subsequently sold the chain in Bangalore, where she was taken in a bid to recover it. The three accused policemen allegedly raped her at a lodge there.

Why suspended? Why not behind the bars? Is it because Jail is meant for public and rapist police are supposed to get only a suspension? Is it that other rapists are dangerous and Police rapists are safe for the public? Probably our great trio - Rak, Nag, Jeev might have answers but seems to have fallen asleep? Some one should wake them up from their slumber

These cannot be police who eat free of cost from the govt. of Karnataka. These guys have spoiled the name of other police who are doing good work and helping the society. The rowdy policy who are caught should be punished with 100 lashes and Rs.1,00,000/- fine and ten years in jail and should be given hard work jalli kallu (stones) breaking work. They should be punished soon, else there will be strike.

These culprits will get bail from Court & blackmail the women to withdraw the case. So culprits must be hanged to death in public.

These police goondas shoud be given rigorous punishment for life. The police men think that women can be exploited, instead of giving protection. It is real digrace to Indian police system. Supreme Court must wake up and enact very strict law on Rape.

What is this nonsence!!!Who shall protect us from those who are supposed to protect us? Our country is rotten to the core, from the top level officers to the bottom of the ladder constables.

One exceptional case: Few months ago a woman constable in Raipur, capital of Chhattisgarh, posted for the safety of women in the city, was gang-raped by some miscreants!!!!!!

Looks like the enforcers of the law took the accused victim for granted and did this heinous act!! But what is most shocking is that the females in uniform along with them were mute spectators??

Anyways, this incident needs to be thoroughly investigated as the victim is an alleged robber and cannot be relied upon totally!!

What a stupid and foolishness by Aldur Police.Under the pretext of investigation the lady was taken to Bangalore with out having lady police escort! In Bangalore they (police)kept in the lodge and raped the women one by one. This incident happened few days back and came to the light when one NGO/RAMASENE taken this issue to the fore. One of my face book friend up dated me all the details and importantly, I was resident of ALDUR for couple years.

Concerned police personnel need to be dismissed from the service up on the receipt of medical report.

Do not jump to the conclusion yet. There were two lady Police Personnel too escorted the chain stolen Lady Thief too. It is highly impossible that two lady Police Personnel stayed in another room of same lodge and Lady Thief left to stay with male Police Members?
