Mangalore: Journos exhibit athletics skills at annual sports meet

Mangalore, Feb 25: Media persons in the city took a day off from their busy schedules on Sunday February 24 to test their athletic skills.

The occaison was the annual sports meet for journalists organized by Dakshina Kannada District Working Journalists' Union and Mangalore Press Club organized the annual sports meet for journalists at St Aloysius College grounds on Sunday February 24.

Manjunath Bhandary, president of Sahyadri group of institutions inaugurated the event.

Olympic runner and Arjuna award winner Vandana Shanbagh, and international sportsman Anand Shetty were the main guests.

On the occasion, international weightlifter Geethabai, international skating champion Roysten Pinto and Dhanya S were honoured.

Games like tug of war, cricket, musical chairs, lagori and many others were organized during the course of the action-packed day. Journalists from various media organizations participated in the meet enthusiastically.

President of DKDWJU P B Harish Rai welcomed the gathering, Srinivasa Indaje compered while president of Patrika Bhavan trust B Ravindra Shetty, delivered the vote of thanks.

Press Club president Ramakrishna, chief secretary Kiran Sirsikar and others were present.
