Swanky coaches for higher travel comfort soon: Bansal


New Delhi, Feb 26 (IANS): Catering to increasing demand for higher travel comfort, the railways will introduce swanky new coaches offering excellent ambience, and latest modern facilities and services in select trains, Railway Minister Pawan Kumar Bansal said Tuesday.

"With increasing popularity of Shatabdi and Rajdhani trains, there is also a demand for higher travel comfort. Responding to this need, to begin with, the railways will introduce one such coach in select trains which will provide an excellent ambience and latest modern facilities and services," Bansal said while presenting his maiden budget 2013-14 in the Lok Sabha.

"Such coaches will be named 'Anubhuti' with commensurate fare structure," said the railway minister.

The minister also announced installation of electronic display boards in trains for disseminating information to passengers about approaching stations, train running, arrival platform besides free Wi-Fi facility on several trains to cater to the increasing aspirations and requirement of the youth and other valued customers.

Seven more stations will get air conditioned executive lounges on the lines of the one in New Delhi, he added.
