Bantwal, Feb 26: The girl who was allegedly raped and murdered at Kalladka here on Mondau February 25 was laid to rest amidst a huge gathering of family and well wishers on Tuesday February 26.

The girl, identified as 22-year-old Soumya, was found dead near a small pond at Kuntalgudde. The marks on her body indicated that she had been murdered, and allegeldy raped. Police took Satish (25) into custody the same evening.

Satish (suspect)

During the last rites, former union minister Janardhan Poojary speaking to media promised maximum financial and other help to the family and handed over Rs 10,000 to them.

Condemning the murder, he said the incident has brought shame and that he would hold discussions on the matter with the IG, he said.

Mamatha Gatti, district women president and MLA Ramanath Rai were also present. Mamatha Gatti demanded the authorities to give a financial relief of Rs 20 lac to the victim’s family, similar to that received by the family of Delhi rape victim.

Soumya's family is financially poor, and with the help of a few donors in the village, the children were able to get education, said sources.

According to the locals, Soumya was intelligent and a well mannered girl, who was earning for her family and had aspired to become a teacher.

I agree with Mr. Mohan Naik. Society should create a atmosphere for Soumya's sister and brother to fulfill her dreams. They should become role models in our society by becoming teachers, lecturer, doctor, social worker or lawyer..."falling down is how we grow, staying down is how we die". Let us not stay down and let us not allow this family to stay down.

It all started in DK with pub attack and Home Stay attack the victims were always women. In those accidents goondas and fringe elements got encouragement thus the individuals started to take decisions watching the scenes played of such attacks again again in the media. The buck stops at the policing. For the police showed the weakness in their enforcement. They were blamed also for favoritism. It will take a long time to undo the harm done during BJP rule mean while simple and poor people will bear the brunt.

This is where I have seen our police and polotical people are coming only after the incident. There are no precautionary measures and strict law in India for these type of crimes. Instead of moral policing it is better to hunt these criminals. I don't know whether they can do this good job to protect all our future children.

My heart broke reading through the news of our dear sister Soumya. What a terrible tragedy, agonizing death she may have undergone. May God give strength to the family to cope with the loss of beloved.

Wickedness is ever increasing around the globe ... governments are miserably failed to bring true peace & security for the mankind … very unlikely that solution to our misery and crisis will come from any man or government.

Bible has clearly foretold about this.... “in the last days critical times hard to deal with will be here ...... wicked men and impostors will advance from bad to worse, misleading and being misled”…. (2 Tim. 3: 1 to 5, 13).

“…..I well know, O Jehovah, that to earthling man his way does not belong. It does not belong to man who is walking even to direct his step” (Jer. 10: 23)

The solution for mankind’s problem is Gods Kingdom which will be brought upon this earth very soon (Dan 2: 44).

Punishing the culprit is of course very imporatant keeping in mind the cruel act. The victim would have been the sole breadwinner of the family. The culprit has thrown the entire family on streets.
Apart from this, what we learn from this incident is that the world around is very cruel and unpredictably cunning. It is the duty of all like minded civilised people around us to get together and help such possible victims from getting into such situations. It can happen to anyone of our daughters and sisters. When it comes to preventio of such crimes, let us forget the differences among us and help each other by educating the possible evils that can happen, provide assistance where it is needed and go out of the way to identify and catch such criminals who can be social evils.
In this case, the culprit had a history. Those who knew this could have taken him to task much before the incident. If police could not do this, media or social groups could have done this.
There should be no mercy in dealing with such people if we know that he can do such a crime. Punish him before the crime takes place.

I can't image or think why our country deeply fell down such a criminal activities. Should be we wants to change our rules and law and order by the help of our judiciary. Look our honorable minister has been handed over amount of 10,000 its a cost of virginity of our Indian's girl? Will be continued Delhi and UP if we are still closing our bright eyes so pls wake up and do a needful strikes .

It is indeed very sad to see the pictures of Soumya's family members. The pathetic state that they are living and the untimely death that Soumya got in the hands of the Cruel animal Sathish. I think we as a community should help Soumya's family to build the half finished house where atleast the young sisters of Soumya can live peacefully and continue their education. The course of the law and justice will take its own time but it cannot return the loss this family suffered. Can we do our bit to help this family who is in dire need of a decent roof over their head.

Daijiworld, like you did in the past, please meet up with this family and publish the bank details of Soumya's family so as to allow those who wish to help these family with their financial help to the these young girls to continue their education and to have a decent living that they deserve.
