Mangalore, Mar 3: Voters of Valencia (ward no 48) in Mangalore City Corporation made a reality check of their candidates for the elections at an interaction programme organized at Shivabhakti Yoga Bhajana Mandira in Ujjodi here on Sunday March 3.

The interaction programme gained good response from voters and also proved as an alarm bell to the candidates. The  candidates were grilled with more than 15 questions on development works, water problems, the plans of candidates on development of the ward and so on.

All the five candidates - Prabhamalini from BJP, Gretta Asha D'Silva from Congress, Sujatha Sandeep from JD(S), Flossy Pinto from BSR Congress and independent candidate Flavia Sequeira, responded to the voters with satisfactory answers. The main focus of the candidates was on bringing about development of the ward.

Gretta Asha D'silva said she had faith that the voters would choose her so that she could involve herself in social work being a corporator. She also said that she has done field work from many years and hence is very thorough about the problems and issues in the ward.

Prabhamalini of BJP promised to be a dedicated worker and strive for the development of the ward and resolve issues faced by the people.

Flossy Pinto of BSR Congress said development and solving the problems of the people will be her agenda. Flavia Sequeira sought public support in developmental works of the ward. She also said that she would work without any party affiliations.

Shivabhakthi Yoga Bajana Mandali president Srinivas K Bangera thanked the candidates and voters for responding to the programme. He said that organizations in various wards should come forward to hold such programmes, so that the voters could assess the abilities of candidates in a better way.

Ashok was the mediator while Raymond D'Cunha of Pingara Patrike compered the event.

Mukha Mukhi was a fantastic program me enacted by Mr. Raymond. He has tried to give a glimpse of the Candidate's stature, their knowledge of the Ward and people's attribution. Good work Raymond keep it up.

Seeing the above photos Valencia Ward must be having a few hundred voters. Whats the point in holding these meets when the ward residents do not attend in large numbers, this is the only time when voters can meet candidates and get response to their questions. Citizens time to wake up
