Kundapur, Mar 6: The high court on Wednesday March 6 granted bail to Subramanya Udupa, an accused in the murder case of RTI activist Vasudeva Adiga in January this year.

During the hearing on Tuesday March 5, the public prosecutor had opposed bail to Udupa on the grounds that the investigation in the case was still in progress, and that his release may hamper the investigation. The hearing was adjourned to Wednesday.

On Wednesday, a single bench of the high court granted bail to Udupa, on a surety bond of Rs 2 lac and signatures by two witnesses.

Advocates B V Acharya and Jagannath Alva represented Udupa.

It may be recalled that Adiga was kidnapped on January 7 and found murdered in Kadur, Chikmagalur five days later. Seven persons including his neighbour Ramesh Bayari, the main accused, and Subramanya Udupa were arrested over a period of several days and remanded in custody.

It is ridiculous to see the comments of some readers who are not aware of the Details of the case commenting .Bail is the Right of every citizen .The Hon Court might have examined the case in details and hence granted Bail .Court proceedings are free for all anybody can go inside and watch the proceedings and see what argument made him get Bail it is unwise to comment without having heard the arguments

This case is going nowhere except one by one the accused will be granted bail and free to roam around.
I wonder if it is advisable to let accused on bail, when the investigations are still on.
    May be high strong influence.

I think there are more chances for bail on single bench hearing. We have good lawyers in India and good police too.But very unfortunate that a RTI activist is killed for his own property matter issue. The police should investigate and submit a accurate strong report so that guilty can be punished before the mother perish. The mother was also made to give blood sample for DNA test to confirm the identity of the dead body.
