Beltangady: Four arrested for attempting to rape 14-year-old

Daijiworld Media Network – Beltangady (VM)

Beltangady, Mar 13: Police on Tuesday March 12 arrested four persons for allegedly attempting to rape a high school student.

The arrested are identified as Fayaz (19) from Mittabagilu, Nasir (18), Naushad (19) and Shakir (19). They had reportedly attempted to rape and even threatened a 14-year-old girl.

The girl who was studying in class 8 was intercepted by a group of 4 persons near the banks of Netravati river while she was returning home on March 9. They even forced her to go along with them, to which she refused. When the accused tried to lift and forcibly take her away, the girl screamed loudly.

Hearing her screams, a woman who was grazing her cow nearby came to the rescue of the girl. Seeing her, the four accused fled from the spot threatening to kill the girl if she revealed the incident to anyone.

Thereafter, girl was reluctant to go to school. On enquiry, the matter was revealed and the parents of the girl filed a complaint in the Beltangady police station.

SI Yogish in a quick operation arrested the four accused and produced them before the judge.

The problem is that now the four will b e released soon - maximum 3 months - and then the girl and family who cannot move anywhere will have to face hell... Nowadays, there is no stigma, and these boys will roam free without any shame... I dont know the solution but one approach may be to post the picture of these guys in every prominent place for all to see once they are released.

not only rapists but even those who try to touch a girl also should be tortured to death. dont think girls are weak. vry soon women power wil be on its height. even though horror punishments are imposed for such cheap acts, these boys still havent changed their thoughts. sad to know. police must not let them go saying they are minor. in rape, no juvenile no adult, all r same. they have tried to do something bad to a girl they have to be punished.
i hope the police wil punish these goona to death . this kind of act wont be tolerated hereafter.

These teen aged boys' upbringing must be absurd and rotten. As an action - nip in the bud-, these boys should be punished severely. If they let free now, they would do more similar or grave crimes when they grow. Let their punishment be a lesson to other offenders too.

While committing this adult crime they are adults but while being punished they are not adults. What an irony Hope they receive their due desserts for what they have done to the poor girl.

Involvement of four men looks suspicious. But in most of case its girls open about talking to stranger boys and elope but when matter goes public or to parents , they switch sides and complaint of Rape. It looks some women activists in delhi are right in pressuring govt to make age of consent to 16 . But i think 14 is right ( as in manipur looking at todays comditions )..........//........ When girl ( minor or major ) has relationship with men , she also should be booked for sexual harrasement . Goverment should retain Gender Neutral clause in crpc code and table it in session as soon as possible. Gender specific or gender just law will be a injustice towards men.

"Hearing her screams, a woman who was grazing her cow nearby came to the rescue of the girl". I am happy for the woman who is brave to come to rescue. In case of Saumya " An aged woman also saw a man forcing a girl on the roadside, but as she was scared, she did not disclose the matter, said police sources" This little girl too brave to reveal the issue. Well done police force!

Thank God ! There did not take place Sowjanya 2 ! Please counsel the girl - she should not give up her studies but come out with vengeance !

Subject the culprits to such a sever treatment that they will not be in a position to carry out sexual activity even within legal limits !

How much more should Indians wait for a modified law on sexual abuse ?
