Congratulation to Corp.Bank. You should have celebrated this in Udupi. We all know lots of stories about Bank originating from Udupi dist. Bank should have donated funds to one of the school / colleges in udupi dist also to celebrate this great day. I wish, Bank should have honoured one of the family member of Late Khan Bahadur Haji Abdulla Haji Kasim Saheb Bahadur. As per my knowledge, he was one of the prominent donor of lands for schools / hospitals in Udupi.....it is sad, no one takes his family members name and the place which he donated would have fetched crores for his family now......

Mr.Dayanada Bangera,Katpady/Abu Dhabi, has raised a very partinent point and it is hoped that Corporation Bank will take note of same for consideration. As rightly said it would have better, apart from Mangalore, if the Founders day of the Bank celebrated at Udupi too where the Bank had its root first.
Bank has donated abundently to Mangalore city towards fulfilment of its social obligaions.Next project if any for donating for the social cause may kindly be taken up for Udupi which will be a fitting tribute to its noble founder.

Head quarters of these nationalised banks should have been located at the place of Origin. It is not fair that they are shifted to Bangalore. Local residents lost so many employment opportunities.

    Dear KR Prabhu,
The Bank started with networth of Rs.5000, & after the closing hours of banking on the First day its outstanding balance was Rs. 38.13.
And as you said, DK people should feel proud that, during nationalisation of banks First Four out of Five banks were from DK District....

Corporation Bank was founded in the year 1906 by Late Khan Bahadur Haji Abdulla Haji Kasim Saheb Bahadur with megre sum of capital of Rs,38 anas 13 pie 2,now has a total business turnover of Rs.2.60 lakh crores. The founder was from Udupi with his business intersts and an ardent devotee of Sree Krishna mutt having close ties .It was said that during his days when mutt had no enough earnings to manage mutt affairs and whenever there was a paucity of food grains, oil they sent information to Hajii Abdulla Saheb and Saheb was promptly obeying the orders of the mutt by sending required food grains and oil etc., from his godown. It is also said that he used to go to his business house daily in Udupi only after paying respects to Lord Krishna through Kanakana Kindi. He started the Corp Bank with a broader intention od serving the fellow citizens of the soceity and his legecy needs to carried forward unhindered. It is very nice to see founders day of the Bank is celebrated with fond remebrence of great personality Haji Kahn Bahadur Saheb.Similar is the case about Ammabal Subba Rao Pai,T.M.A.Pai,Attavar balakrishna Shetty founders of Canara Bank,Syndicate Bank,Vijaya Bank respectively where all these banks which took birth in single dist DK now nationalised having global presence and doing best nation building work.It would be most appropriate if these four great personalities, their life and contibution to the soceity/country is made known to our younger/future generations through adding the subjects in our primary/high school level text syllabus. It will be a fitting tribute to these great men from Dakshina kannada who made us proud.
