Udupi, Mar 15: Locals on Thursday March 14 expressed their opposition to tahsildar who had come to demolish the houses which were allegedly built without legal permission near Sunni Jamia Masjid in Mudarangadi.

Based on a complaint about illegal stay, tahsildar Abhijith visited the spot along other with officials, bringing a JCB to remove the houses belonging to poor families of Haseena Banu, Sabeena, Havabi, Shafiya Banu and Zeenath.

During the operation, former MLA Vasanth Salian along with other officials opposed the tahsildar’s order which they said was being carried without prior notice. They demanded to clear other illegal houses and then remove these houses. "The families are very poor and have been residing in the place for the past 5 years, and they did not obtain the title deed even after appeals were submitted," said the locals.

But the tahsildar was not ready to listen to the representatives. He said that notice has to be first given by the gram panchayat development officer that the 25 acres of land will not be used for any purpose by the government other than to shelter homeless people. "As so far no such notice has been given by the gram panchayat, as per the order by higher authorities, the houses have to be razed down," he said.

Meanwhile, Kapu MLA Lalaji R Mendon visited the spot and asked to maintain status quo on the order as elections are approaching. He said that the state government will soon bring a legislation on the Akrama-Sakrama issues of past 10 years, and till then asked the tahsildar to not make any move.

Former Yellur gram panchayat president Yashawath Shetty threatened to to go on hunger strike if the houses are demolished. "If conversion of grazing land was possible within 24 hours then why can't authorities issue title deeds to these poor families?" he demanded.

Nagesh Bhat, gram panchayat member, Jayanth Kumar, Gangadar Suvarna, Kaup block Congress president, M P Mohideenabba, Srinivas Sharma, Naveen N Shetty, Abdul Azeez, Naveenchandra Suvarna, Laxmi Moolya, Santhosh Shetty, R I Ganesh Balegar, V A Puneeth, Vasanthibai among others were present.

INDIA IS NO MORE POOR ANYMORE

HOW POOR CAN SURVIVE IF THEY KEEP-ON DEMOLISH THEIR SHELTERS AND KILLING POOR PEOPLE?

WHETHER OUR ANCESTORS OBTAINED TITLE DEED BEFORE BUILDING SHELTER OR HUT?

IT IS NOT GOVERNMENTS RESPONSIBILITY TO PROVIDE SHELTER FOR ALL?
IT LOOKS LIKE MISGOVERNMENT AND IRRESPONSIBILITY OF GOVERNMENT ITSELF.
IN THIS CASE INDIRA GHANDI IS FAR MORE BETTER TO PROVIDE HUDCO-MANE, BAGYA-JYOTHI ETC..
HOW LANDLESS PEOPLE CAN HAVE THEIR ON HOME OR LAND?

IN THIS CASE CASE NEPAL BANGLADESH AND SRILANKA IS FAR BETTER THAN US.

I HOPE OUR GOVERNMENT AT-LEAST LEARN NOW FROM THESE POOR COUNTRIES AND FROM AFGHANISTAN TALIBAN ETC.

GOVERNMENT IS READY TO SELL OUR MOTHERLAND IN THE FORM OF SAND-MAFIA ETC BUT DOES NOT KNOW TO PROVIDE BASIC FACILITIES TO ORDINARY CITIZEN.

ONLY RICH PEOPLE ELECTED THE GOVT?
    WHY NOT POOR?????????

Looks like a Vote Bank Politics to generate sympathy votes. I will not be surprised to know if Congress had intentionally built those houses to get it demolished and make it a political issue out of it. Everything is Possible in India in the name of Politics and Power. Poor and innocent Indians are taken for a roller-coaster ride to heaven by politicians. This is called False Flag Strategy to defeat the enemy.

Very good news from Udupi district as we are hearing bad news for couple of days.'A order from higher authority' probably from AC or DC?.But people of Mudrangadi,Grama Panchayth President ,Local MLA and ex Local MLA rallied in favor of poor family which is a point of reckoning and pleasant surprises for DAIJIWORLD READERS.We can't blame Tahsildar as they have to work under pressure from politicians , higher authorities. and according rule of land.In this particular issue,CONGRESS/BJP/and other community leaders came together which should be appreciated.

If they are illegally built make it legal by charging a fee. If they are built on public land give them alternative houses. Where can the poor go if their houses are demolished? Punish all those who approved the construction of houses in the first place. Hunt them first and hand them, not the poor people.

This is what makes law enforcing agencies toothless, the politicians interference.Rule should be followed and if the houses are illegal government should make them alternate arrangements for shelter. The shanty towns delevop like this and pose problems for all later.

If land is grabbed by illegal way at Bangalore by most our respected politicians in Bangalore SRO works 24X7 to rectify the errors, make sale registrtations etc.,Obtaining permission for resdiential purpose and later convert the building (during construction time)into commercial is also done at BBMP office 24X7.This special previledeg is being enjoyed by our most respected politicianss since Yediyurappa's regime which continued till DVS regime too. Then why the problem in remote village like Mudarangadi creating problem for these poor muslim families? They are living a pathetic life struggling to both ends meet.Authorities should be compasssinate towards poor.Dont implement the orders in a shocking way.It is just like Gubbiya mele Brahmastra.
