Kundapur, Mar 17: The Kundapur police on Friday March 15 night arrested a man for allegedly luring and kidnapping a girl, and keeping her under house arrest.

The accused has been identified as Ganesh Poojary, an auto driver at Shastri Circle here, and resident of Vaderahobli.

The girl had gone missing on February 23 after leaving for tuitions from her house. It is said that Ganesh had lured her and had an illicit relationship with her.

The girl's parents had filed a complaint with the Kundapur police.

During police investigations led by Kundapur SI Jayaram D Gowda, it was found that the accused had rented a house behind Kalikamba Temple near Katkeri. On Friday night, the police raided the house and took Ganesh as well as the girl into custody.

On Saturday March 16 both were produced in the court. A case was registered based on the complaint of the girl, who was later handed over to the family.

The court sent Ganesh to judicial custody till March 30.

@Roshan Braganza, your views are very practical and right bro!! Force in any aspect of life is totally condemnable!!

People have to think, unlike yesteryear, girls/boys mature as young as 10 years (if I am not mistaken) due to diet and media influence, so it is but natural that craving for carnal desires sets in that much earlier!!

Just reducing the age of 16 too will not solve the problem, because even with that age of consent (age at which mental maturity would still be childish) THERE IS TOTAL SCOPE OF MANIPULATING THE DEVELOPING MIND THROUGH VARIOUS MEANS and putting the partner in deep trouble!!

A thing to ponder upon for both the genders irrespective of young or old!!!

@ Rudolf , Mumbai , I say forced relationship irrespective of any age amounts to Rape. A minor now a days very well practise intimacy , and in most cases she has consent. But when matter goes to police or parents they switch on sides. Its good move by govt proposing age of consent back as 16. So many innocent boy or men can relieve from punishment they do not deserve. If birth certificates are not available , the they calculate it scientifically , and it may not accurate.

@Roshan Braganza, as you said with the laws skewed in womens favor there is tremendous scope for misuse when consensual relations are involved! Suppose it is a love affair and they indulge in relations later on for some reason the lady can renege and put an accusation that it was by force and put the partner in deep trouble!!

But in this case since she is a minor the man is at fault!! In many cases in the extremely poor and uneducated they may not even be able to produce documentary proof of age!!

    DEAR NAVEEN,
WHATEVER MAY BE THE PHYSICAL TRUTH IT IS UNACCEPTABLE TO TRAP A MINOR GIRL FOR ANY REASON.
AT THEIR ADOLESCENT AGE THEY ARE UNDERGOING TRANSITION INTO AN ADULT AND ARE NOT IN A POSITION TO SENSE THE DANGERS.
THEY MUST BE UNDER PARENTAL PROTECTION TO GUARD AGAINST SUCH PREDATORS.
THE FELLOW MUST BE THRASHED IN PUBLIC SO THAT NO SUCH GUYS WILL VENTURE INTO EASY WAYS AGAIN.

NO DOUBT. HE MUST BE A MEMBER OF BD OR SIMILAR OUTFIT (Indian Terrorist group) Otherwise no one will have courage to keep a girl in the same lcoality. Sure it is with the help of such group only.

This time the person is already in police custody. Hence, there is no scope of beating up by social organizations. Hence, the lesson learnt is either police must arrest culprits immediately or sympothisers of the culprits (few are in this forum) have to ensure culprit gets surrendered to police.

if Girl willingly stays at Lovers house does that amount of House arrest?. Its a classic case of affair , soon they will be relieved as Age of Consent will be 16. I wonder on what charges he is been booked ? , if Girl gives statement before bench about willingness about the incident , will he be discharged.?!

No, this time not possible. Because he is from a different community!
I think everyone should take the responsibility and thrash such people in public. Irrespective of religion/cast etc., we all should support n protect our women!

You are right Mitwa, Sharjah. Although I agree with you that there should not be double standards in the treatment given, I would still say no one should encourage taking law into his own hands or giving power to a mob. People beating auto driver (in the previous case)was totally wrong no matter from which religion he is
