Muscat : MCCP organises 'Spiritual Day'

Muscat, Mar 17: Mangalorean Catholic Centre of the Parish, Sts. Peter & Paul Church –Ruwi , Muscat, under the leadership of President Lawrence Alva,  VP Cultural –Clita Crasta, Spiritual Secretary and their team organized the Spiritual Day on Friday 15th March 2013 at 6.30 pm, Ruwi parish Hall.

MCCP-Muscat, for the first time ever, dramatized the  touching relationship between Saint Philomena  and the God in a powerful way, titled “The Wonder Worker The St. Philomena”, in order to effectively  spread the message“ Trust in God, and Live a life of faith”  to its community people. by presenting through a skit of St.Philomena. 












































































President Lawrence Alva, Welcomed the gatherings and gave the message to the audience  that program was organised to help our material life and stimulating our spiritual development in a balanced way and to have graceful life.

Spiritual Director of the Community,  Fr.Wilson  Rumao, who was also  the Chief guest of the evening program, sought  the blessings  for the event.  In his talk, he expressed  that the significance  of lenten season  is to focus on forgiveness and repenting of sin and consecrating oneself to God.

Drama on life of St. Philomena in Konkani was arranged with translation by Apolinaris D’souza, a veteran musician of the community and ever loved  Konkani actor Walter Mendonca, assisted by Nirmala Goveas and Clita Crasta, edited by Clita Crasta and Gretta Rebello, choreographed by Gretta Rebello, and Music Composed by Apolinaris D’souza. Singers were Loveline Rego, Ivan, Dolphy, Vincent, Victoria, Reena and Flavia, prompters were Prescilla Menezes, Sunil D’souza & Lionel, costumes were designed by Melanie Crasta and directed by  Clita Crasta.

Melanie Crasta as Philomena (  Lovingly called by all Lumena) 
Skit was mainly focused on the young virgin who was martyred at age 13, willingly traded her earthly life for heavenly salvation and continues her work today promoting the virtues of purity and sanctity among the world’s youth and bringing the faithful closer to our Blessed Mother and Jesus Christ.  Skit was  full of heroism and spirituality, to which no historical value can be attributed. 

“Performance by all  the Artists was spectacular,” said the Audience.  Clita Crasta,  directed  skit  in such way that Audience were specially riveted  to their seats.  Audience were especially thrilled to watch  the  Devil  terrifying on the screen and St.Philomema’s victory over the evil.  The role of Philomena was  remarkably  presented by Melanie Crasta. It was a spiritual experience for all the artists, as well as the audience.

Clita Crasta ,said while felicitating the entire team of the skit,  “It is our prayer that through this production, modern audiences will realize that in the beauty, innocence and purity of Saint Philomena is a role model for our young people to imitate. We are grateful for her intercession in the production of skit.  She’s a powerful saint of our times.” 

Aplonaris  D’souza,  Gretta  Rebello, Walter Mendonca  and Melanie Crasta were felicitated by Lawrence Alva, presenting the flower bouquet for their whole hearted  support. Fredrick Castellino was felicitated by Melanie Crasta.

Vote of thanks was proposed by Sonia Martis.

In the end, the audience  were served the Lenten dinner.
