Prahlad Joshi appointed Karnataka BJP President

Prahlad Joshi appointed Karnataka BJP President

Bangalore, Mar 21 (PTI): Lok Sabha member Prahlad Joshi was today appointed state ruling BJP chief by national President Rajnath Singh to lead its tough battle in the May five Assembly polls.

The appointment of Joshi, representing Dharwad, was announced by Karnataka BJP just a day after the Election Commission declared the poll schedule.

Joshi pipped other contenders as he has a comparatively wider appeal and hails from north Karnataka which the party considers as its stronghold but where it is facing a threat to its prospects from former BJP strongman B S Yeddyurappa. Numerically powerful Lingayat community to which Yeddyurappa belongs has a strong presence in north Karnataka.

A second time Lok Sabha member from Dharwad, from where Chief Minister Jagadish Shettar also hails, 50-year-old Joshi, eclipsed former Chief Minister D V Sadananda Gowda, Mangalore Lok Sabha member Nalin Kumar Kateel and Minister Govind M Karjol who were also in the race.

Senior BJP leader Arun Jaitley and the party's in-charge of Karnataka affairs Dharmendra Pradhan were in the city recently eliciting the views of key players in the the party's state unit on a successor to K S Eshwarappa who resigned from the post earlier this month.

Gowda, hailing from coastal Karnataka, was not seen as somebody who had a mass appeal, first time MP Kateel was considered as "too inexperienced" while Karjol was an "outsider" as he is originally not from the ruling party.

Some BJP leaders also saw the "imprint" of senior party leader H N Anant Kumar in the selection of Joshi whose case he has reportedly taken up after Karjol fell out of the race.

Joshi has his task cut out, with just under seven weeks to go for polls. Anti-incumbency factor is weighing heavily on BJP leaders even as Yeddyurappa, who has formed Karnataka Janatha Paksha, is hell-bent on spoiling its party.

Reacting to Joshi's appointment, Yeddyurappa said it wasn't a surprise to him as Anant Kumar, his bete noire, has been persisting with his name. "Anant Kumar is afraid to head the sinking BJP ship and hence he has suggested Joshi's name."

Elected to Lok Sabha first in 2004 and returned to Parliament in 2009, Joshi has served on different Parliamentary committees. Joshi had served as General Secretary, BJP, Dharwad District, from 1995-98. He had held the position of President, BJP, Dharwad District from 1998-2003. He is now General Secretary of BJP in Karnataka.

Just half an hour back in his interview on TV the BJP state President Prahlad Joshi has given a statement comparing India,s situation to Three monkeys of Mahatma Gandhi. That is Indian Judiciary has Closed its Eyes. Central Govt has Closed its Ears, and P.M. Manmohansingh has closed his mouth.
But Prahladji Please note that there is one more addition to Mahatmaji's monkeys, a forth one, a female monkey, which has closed its body part with its hands between its legs , just to protect its Chastity from the Gang Rapists of India. It is also a message from Gandhiji to the Indian males also to Protect their Purity too.

Hear no Evil, See no Evil, Speak no Evil, and fourthly Do not be Devil.

Even though Joshi is considred as puppet of Anant Kumar , Joshi is a Kannada Maadhwa Brahmin and Anant Kumar is a Telugu Brahmin ( also called as Mulakanadu Smartha Brahmin related to Ravi Belagere) . So, both are just opposite in their qualities. Telugu smarthas are extremely scheming and cut-throat whereas Madhwas are to some extent reliable. The only similarity between Joshi and Anant is that both are the sons of Railway employees and born and brought up in Hubli Railway colony just like me. But I dont think that this Kannada Brahmin can help a Telugu Brahmin to become the Chief Minister of Karnataka as both do not have any independent vote-catching power or personal charisma.

THERE IS NO RECORD OR RULE THAT ALL BRAHMINS WILL VOTE BJP ONLY BECAUSE PRESIDENT IS BJP. BRAHMINS APPLY THEIR MIND BEFORE VOTING BECAUSE NO OF ALCOHALIC IN THE COMMUNITY ARE COMPARITIVELY LESS AND THEY COULD NOT BE PURCHASED BY ANYBODY. UNLESS BJP PROVES BSY'S ALLEGATIONS NO BRAHMINS/LINGAYATS WILL VOTE BJP BECAUSE IT IS SHAME FOR ONE AND ALL AND BJP HAS SHOWN ITS REAL FACE BY BACKFIRING BSY.

Prahlad joshi is a Brahmin, and the Brahmins Population in North Karnataka is merely 4%. Joshi has no influence among Lingayats or even Kurubas or Valmiki-Nayaks who are the second and third largest groups in North Karnataka. Just because he is a staunch RSS man he got the post due to scheming of Anantkumar. In this way BJP is digging its own grave not only in old Mysore and Coastal belt, but even in North Karnataka.
But it is a big question whether the Congress can capitalize on this situation inspite of its crab-like mentality of pulling the legs of its own candidates.

Wheel alignment has not been done properly and it may start but will crash earlier than anticipated. My question is why DVS was asked to resign from CM post and then promised of Party President chair!!!What is the wrong of DVS?Why Nalin Kumar kateel's name went parallel with DVS name in early stages for President post? Why there was a plan to sideline him right after his dethroning from CM post?In all counts DVS should be president but that not happened and this move may hurt DVS which will have an impact in voting for BJP party on Vokkagaliga community point of view on one hand, coastal belt on the other.NOW QUESTION REMAINS IS IT POSSIBLE DVS ABLE TO CONTEST(GET B-FORUM) ASSEMBLY OR WILL HE AGREE TO DO SO?

    Ismail,

Why are you so concerned about not giving this post to DVS? You only said DVS did not do anything for state, especially for Coastal districts.

You are simply commenting since it is a BJP related news, forgetting what you said before. Can you also share your valuable comments in other article about CBI RAID?

Being a BJP Supporter I feel DVS should have got this post. But Joshi's justified over Nalin.

Yes,I did tell DVS did nothing to his constituency nor when twin coastal districts when he had resources, opportunities and tools in his hand.As an Kudalite I had strong expectation from him being adored in coveted post in Karnataka.

Anyways, I did not concern about DVS for not considering him by KESHV KRIPA.RSS/BJP's follies in all front including in political affairs evident for a primary school children .P.Joshi got that job because of Ananth Kumar and DVS was opposed in his own turf by floating Nalin Kumar's name right from the beginning!!
About CBI raid,PM reiterated that it is very unfortunate and it came from concerned department and in that context Sonia Gandhi expressed her displeasure.Do you subscribe Stalin's corruptions?

You had high hopes on BJP High command of giving due recognistion to Mr. DVS or making ONLY Tulu speaking Mr. Kateel (I think he is not considered because BJP high command thought how to communicate with him, as they do not know Tulu or Kannada) as BJP state president. Time has proved you wrong.

HOPE MAY 8TH 2013 WILL NOT PROVE YOU WRONG. AS YOU PREDICT/HOPING BJP WILL WIN 228 OUT 228 SEATS IN KARNATAKA.

The High command wanted to focus only on North Karnataka. They are sure that whatever they do in Southern Part and Coastal Districts, BJP will not get more than 2 to 3 seats, so why to loose North also. Even then they may not come close to even 50 seats. Let us wait and see.

It is surprising to see Prahlad Joshi overtaken two strong contenders like DVS and Kateel on one hand R Ashok on the other.CM & Party President were from same District in BSY regime and Shettar regime also!!!?The calculation and election of P.Joshi is to cut the vote share of BSY in North Karnataka which is said to be strong support base for KJP!!!Interestingly,Vokkaliga community was not taken in to account which could damage BJP's prospectus for some extent .DVS's isolation might be very serious threat for party as he belongs to Vakkaliga Community, ex CM and Ex president of BJP party. There is a strong current against DVS which make him to think serious about deserting party and AKUMAR is once again winner here. The ion of Party chief for Karnataka BJP certainly alienate certain community vote bank for BJP! What comes around is what goes around for DVS.Once up on a time same fate was meted to Danajaya Kumar by DVS nad A.KUMAR!!!
