Future belongs to coalition govts: Mulayam

Sangli (Maharashtra), Mar 24 (PTI) :  Noting that no party can come to power at the Centre on its own, Samajwadi Party chief Mulayam Singh Yadav today said coalition politics has come to stay in the country and asked like-minded parties to come together.

Samajwadi Party, with 22 MPs in the Lok Sabha, provides crucial outside support to Congress-led UPA-II at Centre and Yadav's statement assumes significance ahead of the 2014 Lok Sabha polls.

"Coalition government is the need of the country as no single party can come to power at Centre on its own strength," he told a public meeting here.

"It is high time that parties, having the common goal to achieve social change, come together as in Maharashtra, Bihar and Uttar Pradesh," Yadav said.

Referring to his party organisation, he said, "Samajwadi Party is no more a party of seniors but one comprising youths and women. That is why Akhilesh became Chief Minister of Uttar Pradesh."

Yadav, who had served as Defence Minister in the United Front coalition government in 1996, linked "growing expenditure" on defence sector to the plight of farmers in the country.

"China which supports farmers and agriculture sector is far ahead of India. Farmers are paying the price for growing expenditure on defence sector, which is the result of not-so-cordial relations of India with neighbours Pakistan, China and Bangladesh. There is dire need to help farmers," he said.

He was speaking at a function to commemorate the first death anniversary of veteran freedom fighter and pioneer of cooperative movement in Maharashtra, Nagnath Anna Naikwadi, at Valva village in the western Maharashtra district.

Mulayam is arm twisting but he knows the reality. His party govt in UP is losing steam. SP is unlikely to get as many seats. NDA is squabbling and unlikely to project Modi. IF Modi is projected Congi will get a far better numbers as it will unify the anti Modi platform. Thats for sure. At present Advani is the only viable alternative.

After watching numerous scams and scandals, there are possibilities of a third front forming govt. without Congress support or Mulayam supporting BJP under certain conditions for a defnite.

Somtimes its good that there is a co-alition Govt. Atleast then each other Karma Kanda will come out. Other wise one party will sailently loot the country over decades like our PAN INDIA STATUS party by controlling media, judiciary, investigative agencies and people will be always kept is darkness that nothing has happend. Nobody will know what had happened thethe time the public knows this its easy for the Govt to divert the issues by spending peanuts out of mountian they accumalated. Current rvelation of so much scandals is only because of the coalition Govts, if ti was only one Congress then there wouldnt have been any 3G, or Coal or any chopper or papper scandals coming out.

I also wish in states & center every year alternate party Govts should be formed so that each one will reveal the former ones's scandals. "Ibbara Jagala , mooraneyavanige Laabha " & this 3rd person is nobody but the commonpublic. So whats good for people is good for the country.

Suddenly Mulayam became “Saint”. Somehow he wants to become PM at least for a day or month or year. He knows the power of “Dirty Dozen” in Political Game. When Deve Gowda became PM with 20 odd MPs’ then why not Mulayam? After 2G, these 3Ms’ became headache for UPA and in future too. I.e. Mulayam, Maya and Mamata.

If congress is PAN INDIA PARTY, why coalition Govt UPA is ruling now instead of Congress?

After independence only CONGRESS Govt ruled most of times. However in the recent years congress needs others help in forming the Govts. I cam say congress WAS pan India party, not IS...
