President, vice president greet people on Holi


New Delhi, Mar 26 (IANS): President Pranab Mukherjee and Vice President Hamid Ansari Tuesday greeted people of the country on the occasion of Holi and hoped the festival will further strengthen unity and harmony.

In his message, the president said the colours of Holi were a reflection of the country's diversity and multi-cultural heritage. Holi falls March 27.

"This festival which marks the advent of spring, is a harbinger of joy, hope and fulfilment for all. The myriad colours of Holi are a reflection of our diversity and multi-cultural heritage," the president said.

"May this festival of colours strengthen faith in our cherished national values, and promote oneness, harmony and the good of all," he added.

Ansari said Holi reinforces the message of unity in diversity and of equality of all human beings.

"Holi, which is celebrated with gaiety and enthusiasm throughout the country, reinforces the message of our unity in diversity and of equality of all human beings. May the festival bring peace, prosperity and happiness for all," he said.
