BJP wields stick, expels minister Renukacharya for 6 years

Bangalore, Mar 27 (DHNS): Excise Minister M P Renukacharya, a close associate of former chief minister B S Yeddyurappa, was expelled from the primary membership of the BJP for six years on Tuesday night.

The drastic action came in the wake of Renukacharya’s outburst against former chief minister D V Sadananda Gowda. In his home constituency Honnali, Renukacharya, in an interaction with television channels on Tuesday afternoon, had branded Gowda  the most corrupt.

Renukacharya had alleged that Gowda had taken a huge sum of money from him during the by-election to Udupi-Chickmagalur parliamentary constituency in 2012. He had said he was not bothered whether the BJP would field him as candidate from Honnali in Davangere district.

Renukacharya also termed other senior BJP leaders like party national general secretary Ananth Kumar, Deputy Chief Minister K S Eshwarappa, State party president Pralhad Joshi as corrupt.

He, however, did not provide any details and claimed that he had evidence to prove his allegations.

Taking cognizance of his allegations, which embarrassed the party when it is trying to salvage its image, party State president Pralhad Joshi late in the evening issued the expulsion order. In his three line note addressed to Renukacharya, Joshi stated, “You have spoken lightly of the state leader in television channels. Your conduct amounts to violation of party discipline. You have been expelled from the primary membership for six years with immediate effect.”

In the recent times, the BJP had not taken such stringent and swift action against those who bad mouthed the party or its leaders in public. Joshi’s predecessor K S Eshwarappa had stated that if had initiated disciplinary action, then the party would not have survived in power. But the party now has no such fear because the elections have already been declared.

Renukacharya, who was sidelined in the ULB elections, was at logger heads Sadananda Gowda. In his capacity as the chief minister, Gowda had directed the excise commissioner to investigate a corruption complaint against Renukacharya during the Udupi-Chikmagalur by-elections to the Lok Sabha. The irked Renukacharya had attacked Gowda.

In the ULB elections, the party had bypassed him while distributing B forms to the candidates. Still, the BJP performed well in Honnali. He was feeling insecure once the party began speaking in terms of ‘cleansing’ the party.

He also announced that he will soon be quitting the BJP and join the KJP.

With RSS leaders gradually taking control of BJP affairs in the State, many fence-sitters in the party as well as Yeddyurappa loyalists, including some ministers, are planning to shift to the Karnataka Janatha Party (KJP).

Ministers Murugesh Nirani, and V Somanna are likely to join the KJP. Most of these leaders are unlikely to get BJP tickets to contest the Assembly polls, said KJP leaders.

Nirani is planning to organise a public rally in Jamakhandi, Bagalkot district, on March 29 where he may formally join the KJP, while others have decided to wait till March-end, when the Congress is likely to release the first list. They will take a final decision depending on Congress candidates, sources said. Both Nirani and Renukacharya grew up in the BJP but they are considered as loyalists of Yeddyurappa.

It is said that the BJP may not give party ticket to Nirani for the Jamakhandi constituency, where Srikanth Kulkarni is the sitting MLA. Nirani, MLA from Bilagi in Bijapur, now wants to contest from the Lingayat stronghold Jamakhandi.

Somanna’s dilemma

Somanna, who failed to get an assurance from the Congress on getting ticket for Govindrajnagar constituency in Bangalore, is planning to contest either from Hanur or Gundulpet constituencies in Chamarajnagar district as the KJP candidate.

Somanna, who is a known party-hopper, has not been unhappy over his decision to join the BJP after he quit as the Congress MLA from Govindarajanagar in 2009 to join the BJP. Now, he is left without any constituency as Priya Krishna, the sitting Congress MLA from Govindrajnagar, has developed a strong base in the constituency.

As the district incharge minister, Somanna has been nurturing Chamarajanagar for some time now. The district has a seizable number of voters from his Lingayat community. He had taken up several developmental projects in the backward district.

However, ministers Umesh Katti and Basavaraj Bommai are still undecided about their plans. KJP leaders are claiming that some five to six BJP legislators will be joining their party soon. If their claims come true, then it will strengthen the KJP.

These leaders, the sources said, also believe that the Congress may require the support of a regional party to form the government after the polls and hence it will be better to be in the KJP than continuing in the BJP.

For Karnataka State election I will vote for congress. I am sure they will get majority. But during parliament election I will not vote for congress. Because I am not happy with their performance and scams. May be I will vote for JPH if he if he becomes independent candidate.
Since few decades when ever there was congress govt at Karnataka State, in centre congress lost power.
Congress should not take it for granted that they will get minority votes despite bad administration. BJP govt was the worst in Karnataka but congress govt too is not good. I am not a fool like few BJP supporters who still trying to cover BJP mistakes like uneducated goons. I will rather say if you are Desh Premi vote for the party which gives you good administration without scams. Like JDU in Bihar. If in by election public has voted against BJP they would not have been so worst. In Udupi chick Manglore people voted for Hegde n not for central congress developments. Jai Hind.
Renukacharya was Yeddys CID agent to supply information about BJP strategy. I wrote the same past too. Somanna too will do the same soon.

If so many thought DVS is most honest person (in political term) in BJP and he is labelled by Renu as the most corrupt, then one can imagine the corruption level of other corrupt politicians in that party!!!!
That SINGLE good-man in the party is also CORRUPT!! and Renuka has said he "MEANS WHAT HE SAID WITH EVIDENCE"

Now at least people (voters) of Karnataka should realise how this BJP cheated them with various promises, using religion, which those politicians themselves do not believe in!!!
See now, any allegation against them, immediately they run to temples\mutt to show people they are devout\humble - take DVS right now for example - he is there visiting the temple immediately after he was taken on by Renu!!
Whare-wa-wa - Yenondu kathe yenodu BJP yavara chamatkara.
RSS is trying to pocket as much as possible even at this dying minutes and BJP politicians too.
I hope people will note all this and vote diligently in the coming election.
Down with the corrupted ministers\govt. officials etc.

I hail the court on the decision to counter Politicians and stop un-necessary transfer of Police officers at their whim. If this happens for all transfers without proper reason and on the behest of only the politicians, then those politicians should be pulled up and suitably punished.

Interesting!!!!The story of corruptions of BJP stalwarts are yet to be unfold as Renu threatened yesterday to release the detail in a press.Meantime,BJP supporters in this forum got annoyed and termed the whistle blower as P!G!!!!There are another FOUR VIPs to follow the suits as Renu himself made it clear that he will quit BJP with in 2 days before so called EXPULSION!!!!State and Central BJP High Commands are looks increasingly coward. When expulsion demanded then they kept quiet for power and when came to fag end of the power they applied disciplinary action !!!Can this party move further in this situation? How many P!gs are left in BJP?Most of the law makers in BJP are power hungrier because if Congress guarantee a MLA ticket, definitely, they are ready to cross over !!RATS ARE ..... NOW P!GS ARE MAKING ITs WAY OUT....Another four ministers are in Q....GOVINDA GOVINDA...

..BJP had no other option than expel Renuka..BJP knows that Renukacharya is Yeddi's mole..During resort drama he worked very well for Yeddi'd BJP!! by touring with rebels to various resorts & collecting thier data..His plan was to work as spy for Yeddi..This was nullified by Ananth & co..

Mr. Shahnawaj... It could be a new beginning for BJP as the rats, monkeys, pigs are leaving the ship. Ship cannot be sailed with monkeys and rats. It needs Captains with solid principles. You can see some such sincere politicians like Shettar, DVS, Eshwarappa, sticking to their principles inspite of all halla gulla happening around them.

Once all the garbage is cleaned from the party, BJP can come out strongly in Karnataka. During past 5 years the party has been ruined by selfish pigs and monkeys.

I agree with you P.Naik, Muscat. Once all rats, pigs & monkeys go out of BJP it will become the same old BJP of 1980s for the values it was known for. I do not mind if it does not come to power in next election or for that matter next 10 years. But voters of Karnataka are sure to get fed up within two years of coming election (the party which did nothing for the country in 60 years what hopes you can have on them)One or the other way we the voters have to suffer.

Disciplinary action sounds like a joke. Bada joker party leaders doesn't know the meaning of disciplinary action. Why the same action was not taken when he escorted the MLAs to resorts

BJP expels minister Renukacharya for exposing corruption of BJP'S BIG WIGS.
    Whoever sunk in corruption or
wrong deeds are living in fear of
    being exposed from friends
    turned foes.
In anticipated lines, Party took action, whistle blower is expelled from party.
Lets see whether there will be defamation case or what is peoples reaction to his exposure of corruption, and expelling from party!
