Kasargod, Mar 27: The city police on Tuesday March 26 arrested a woman drug peddler and seized 6 kg of ganja from her.

The arrested is identified as Zuhra (45) from Talangere.

This is the third ganja case tracked by the police in the district in a span of just two weeks.

Police on a suspicion arrested Zuhra at the railway station and on interrogating her found that she had a huge quantity of ganja in her possession.

The ganja was wrapped carefully in paper and plastic. Three similar bags were found with her.

She told the police that she was going to give the packets to a person in Kannur.

It may be recalled that police arrested three persons and seized 54 kg of ganja on March 14, and on March 20, they found 110 kg of ganja in Talangere and arrested two persons.

Police sources said that women and children are made prey to transport these huge quantities of Ganja in the district. It is said that these Ganja are brought from Andrapradesh.

They are not poor, they are LAZY ! Robbery and drug is a short cut to make good money to them! It is really sad to see how people are supporting her ! how come she is ignorant when carrying 6 kg of ganga besides when the crime is caught no one smiles and pose to the picture !

6 kg of ganja = 60 packs of 100 grams !! That means 60 people get addicited and 60 families will be shattered because of one person.

Im sure she would not have taken it ignorantly !!! If she was a puppet lured by money, she would have reasoned that its something illegal else no one will give money to transport plants !!!

Im sure she would have checked just to ensure that it wasnt a bomb !!

On the other hand, she should be punished guilty . If she is let loose, then 1000's of women will start transporting Ganja and plead innocent !!!

If punished now, she or others would not dare to commit the act again ....

If it were a man instead of this woman, the people supporting her would have cursed and commented to imprison him for life !!

Dear Supporters of this woman , dont look at the photo and pass jurdgement. Instead look at the crime and the impact of this crime and then pass your comments.

If your children would have been the victims of Ganja addiction, would you still say forgive her and let he go free ??

    Bollu/Mangalore,

Here its not the attitude but the poverty and ignorance yaar. If i know that i am given poison, I will never consume it but if i am ignorant that i am given poison and i take it as some drink due to ignorance, i will consume and die.. thats what has happened here. No one knows that the lady in question knows what she is carrying?????If she knew it and did it, then she is a criminal and need to be punished. If she is ignorant, then she is innocent and let her be free.

    Shahnawaz
What you said is absolutely right. You mean even Zaibunissa Kazi who is involved in bomb blast..are fall on same category. If 'poverty' is the main reason than in India..more then 50% living below poverty line..and opted for wrong doings. Adivasis are more poorer than these people..still they are doing some minicule work in forest..for there livlihood..!! It's nothing but attitude to become 'amir' all of sudden..!!

I feel she has been a courier and poverty and as a means of livelihood she has been doing this to support her and her family.. Her poverty has been exploited by the ring masters.. police should go deep into it and arrest those who are the masters and real traders...

Government should provide safety , shelter, food for its poor citizens. Then such things will not happen. Government is eating poor man's money without providing their basic needs.

Using women and children as a prey is just an information to turn the case to the other side. If the Ganja is seized from the women house than strict action should be taken on that women and find the real culprit of this consignment. Than they will understand what real deal is. If equality is asked by the women than the equal punishment should be given to the women the same.

Absolutely correct and meanwhile origin should be traced and dealt with more stern actions. If Police determines to nab the origin of consignment they could as they have POLICE INFORMER LIKE MUNEER who was later alleged to be fixed. In this effect Daijiworld had Press briefing (video clip)by his wife and himself which is very interesting.

I beg to differ with you Elveera. Seeing her, surely we cannot conclude that she is professional peddler. Some people must have lured her with money to ship the drugs to its destination. Ultimately the poverty has led her to this crime. When the people who were suppose to look after the wellbeing of every citizen are counting money and gold at their official residences, it won’t be surprising to see such crimes. Finally hunger takes people to any extent, that is the fact.

I personally feel that the women might not have known the contents of the package or the seriousness of possessing the contents. She might have lured to do the job taking the advantage of her poverty etc.

    Lavin Noronha,
I agree with you that hunger takes people to any extent but not selling or knowingly getting involved with drugs because my dear you donot know i am sure agony and living hell of those parents whose children are drug addicts. So please those who are in favour of the lady go and see around those parents who have lost their offspring or addicted to drugs.
