Udupi, Mar 27: SEVA - (Service - Entertainment - Vision - Action) SPIRIT is the brainchild of a few like-minded youngsters who dreamt of bringing together and uniting the Brahmvarities under one banner irrespective of their creed, age and religion. SEVA SPIRIT ever since its inception in 2010 has come a long way in establishing itself as one of the premier forums of the vicinity through its motto of Service, Entertainment, Vision and Action. SEVA’s dream project www.brahmavara.com which was launched with the aim of reaching out to Brahmavarites spread across the nuke and corner of the world has been quite successful in its mission. Along with this a few projects aimed at bringing together youth and channeling their energies and talents towards building a better society are in the pipeline, SEVA has already carved a niche for itself.

SEVA’s annual cultural programmes are already the talk of the town and every year the Brahmarites eagerly wait for SEVA to announce their cultural bash and SEVA has never disappointed them. However, this year SEVA has come out with a novel idea of recognizing and showcasing the hidden talents of some of the talented singers and dancers from Brahmavar through ‘Liplolim Taram’ on Sunday March 31 evening at Holy Family Church grounds, Brahmavar. The Easter evening cultural programme is mainly aimed at unearthing these hidden talents and providing them platform showcasing their talents.

With the view of recognizing talents, SEVA will also be felicitating two exceptionally-talented individuals who have brought international fame and laurels to Brahmvar and its surroundings. Sunitha Lobo who was the part of Indian floor hockey team which won the gold medal recently at the Special Olympics Winter Games held at Pyeong Chang in South Korea and Daniel Monteiro who has set Guinness Book of World Records for his collection of stamps based on birds will be honoured during Liplolim Taram.

SEVA had launched its maiden dream project of www.brahmavara.com during its inaugural programme in 2009. Now SEVA has again come up with another most-awaited project of launching the official website of Holy Family Church Brahmavar. The website is sponsored and initiated by SEVA SPIRIT.


About Sunitha Lobo

Sunitha is proud daughter of the late Peter Lobo and Helen Lobo from Hanehalli near Barkur here. She is the fourth among the five children.

Sunitha Lobo was admitted at the Manasa Rehabilitation and Training Centre for the differently-abled children at Pamboor on June 1, 2003. She was differntly-abled but was physically very fit and good in sports. Identifying her sporting skills MANASA motivated her into sporting activities and trained in floor hockey. She was sent to different places across the country for coaching camps. In July 2011 she participated in the Floor Hockey National Coaching Camp at Shimla, and was selected as the probable athlete for Floor Hockey Event in preparation for the Special Olympics World Winter Games 2013. Based on her talent and prowess she was selected to represent India at the Special Olympics.

She also a talented girl in dance and other sports activities such as shot put, long jump, relay and running race.

She has competed in national and international level competitions in places like Mysore, Hyderabad, Simla, Bangalore etc.


About Daniel Monteiro

Daniel, a resident of Kumragodu village in Brahmavar here, is the son of the late Peter Monetiro and Florine Monteiro. He works as office assistant in St Mary’s Syrian College, Brahmavar. Daniel developed the habit of collecting stamps at the age of eleven )1973) when he was told by a teacher that everybody should inculcate a hobby, Daniel was attracted towards philately. Afterwards, he took interest in collecting stamps of birds.

He has been honoured with 10 international awards by Belgium, Austria, South Africa, Singapore, Hong Kong, Bangkok, Korea, Indonesia, China and the Indian governments. He has also bagged 21 national-level and 13 state-level awards. Also, 31 noted associations have honoured him. He has also won Akhila Bharata Sahitya Sammelan award, district Rajyothsava award, Vishveshwaraiah award, Ambedkar award and many more.

He has recently set Guinness Book of World Records for his collection of stamps based on birds while he has also set his name in Limca Book of Records for his collection of stamps with pictures of ducks. He has set three records in India Book of Records and has also been an active member of national union of philatelists.

He has organized 162 exhibitions with regard to stamp collection and held 31 workshops on environment and Philatelys. Daniel has also presented papers on stamp collection and birds in various national-level conferences.

In Daniel’s collection there are 4,911 birds’ stamps belonging to 263 nations.
