Mangalore, Mar 29: “Akhila Bharata Billawa Union is the only organization where all Billawas are represented. But from past many years, this union has been ruled by one person calling himself the president. From 37 years, Navinchandra Suvarna has been ruling this organization along with his family members and relatives,” said M Seetharam, president, Billawa Organizations Unification Committee, at a press meet held in the city on Thursday March 28.

He said that Suvarna, by throwing all rules and regulations into the air, and without following the democratic process, had unlawfully conducted the representatives’ meeting the day after Shivaratri.

“Though there is a rule that the representatives’ meeting should be done on the premises of Gokarnatheshwara Temple, he has conducted it in Naryana Guru College in violation of the rules. Suvarna, along with his men has organized the representatives’ meeting without issuing the meeting information notice to actual representatives. By using police force and other such help he is preventing actual representatives from taking part in the meeting,” alleged Seetharam.

“On March 11, 2013, the actual representatives Ravishankar Mijar, B P Diwakar, and I were dismissed from the membership of the organization by falsely allegations of  disturbing the work of the Billawa hostel,” he added.

“In the February 21, 2013, meeting, agreeing to the words of actual representatives, Suvarna had said that he will call a meeting of representatives within three months and correct his mistakes. This promise was also reported in the media. But the representative meeting held on March 11, 2013, was unconstitutional and unlawful. Suvarna, with his autocratic rule, has neglected the entire Billawa community. For his selfishness, he is creating chaos in the organization of Billawas,” accused Seetharam.

“This issue is being brought to the notice of the Registrar, Akila Bharata Billawa Maha Mandali, and proper action has been sought. Suvarna has unnecessarily made reasofalse allegations against three prominent members and dismissed them,” he added.

Ravishankar Mijar, J E Chitresh, B P Diwakar, Eshwara Salian, Dinesh Salian, Dinesh Anchan, Purushotham Poojary, Aithappa Poojary, and Shridhar Bolar were present on this occasion.
