Sadiq and Sameer

Sameer was the goal-keeper and captain of Mogral Puttur Young Challengers football club.

The accident occured when the youngsters' bike collided with an auto rickshaw carrying four passengers to Kumble. Sameer and his friend Sadiq were returning by bike after a football match.

The impact of the accident was such that both of them were thrown from the bike on to the road. Sadiq was rushed to Kasargod while Sameer was brought to a Mangalore hospital. Both of them passed away soon after.

Dania (12), daughter of Muhammed, one of the passengers in the auto, sustained serious injuries and was admitted to a Mangalore hospital. Other auto passengers Maria (60), wife of Abdul Khader, their daughter-in-law Ayesha (40), and auto driver Abdul Khader, a resident of Kumble, were also injured. They were taken to a local hospital.

Miraculously, a three-month-old who was in the auto escaped the accident unhurt. When the auto hit the bike, it lost control and fell over, due to which the baby got thrown out of the auto. Luckily, the baby was not harmed in any way.

Both the bike and the auto rickshaw were smashed in the accident.

Kasargod police have registered a case.
