Udupi: Four boys escape from remand home, one caught in Mangalore

Udupi, Apr 1: Four boys on Monday April 1 escaped from the remand home at Doddannagudde here.

The boys have been identified as Gopi (17), Ibrahim (15), Narayan (17) and Prasad (17). They hail from Rajasthan, Moodbidri, Byndoor and Hassan.

They had been arrested sometime back in connection to a theft case.

Among the four, Narayan was later found in Kadri area of Mangalore. He was taken into custody by the Kadri police, who are expected to hand him over to Udupi town police.

A search is on for the other three boys.

Speaking to daijiworld, Rita Martha, deputy director, women and child welfare department, said that on Sunday March 31, the four boys had a quarrel with the security guard. On Monday, they broke the grills of the remand home and escaped, she added.
