Udupi, Apr 2: It’s another stupendous achievement for SEVA-SPIRIT, the premier forum that has dedicated itself to uniting Brahmavarites through various initiatives, programmes and means in the last three years.  SEVA’s phenomenal rise is to be attributed to the fact that it has recognized and utilised the talents and energies of the youth who are quintessential asset of SEVA-SPIRIT.

This was very much evident again on Easter as SEVA brought hidden talents of Brahmavar under one roof and gave them a platform to express themselves at ‘Liplolim Taram’. The result was that the Brahmavarites had a super duper Easter evening wherein they had the glimpse of enormous talents of their own near and dear ones.

‘Liplolim Taram’ (Hidden Stars) is the concept designed exclusively by SEVA in order to recognize and promote the hidden talents of the Brahmavarites. The budding and the established talents were given training to showcase their God-given talent through ‘Liplolim Taram’ held at the Holy Family Church grounds here on March 31 evening.

One of Brahmvar’s brightest stars who has carved a niche for himself through his hard work and commitment, Daniel Monteiro was conferred with the SEVA Personality of the year award.

Daniel Monteiro holds the Guinness Book of World Records for his collection of stamps based on birds. He was honoured after being draped in a shawl, garlanded and presented with the SEVA personality of the year trophy and citation letter. SEVA member Ravi Prakash Gonsalves read the citation letter.

Sunitha Lobo who was the part of Indian floor hockey team which won the gold medal recently at the Special Olympics Winter Games held at Pyeong Chang in South Korea, was honoured on the occasion. SEVA member Santhosh Barnes read the citation letter.

Fr Anthony Vas, the parish priest of Holy Family Churh Brahmavar was the chief guest on the occasion. Stephen Lewis, Santhosh Barnes, Ravi Prakash Gonsalves, Kevin Rodrigues, Joel D'Almieda were also present on the dais.

Before the much-anticipated cultural programme began, SEVA member Steven Lewis delivered the keynote address on ‘Liplolim Taram’ and sough the encouragement and support of the Brahmvarites. SEVA member Joel D’Almeida welcomed the gathering and the guest artistes.

The cultural programme consisted of solo, duet as well as groups songs, dances by performers. While the prayer hymn rendered soulfully by all the artists and led by Fr Dominic Prakash provided the perfect beginning to the programme, it was the duet ‘Neelya Gaganar’ by young Royan and Russel that accorded loud applause from the huge crowd. ‘Ful Fula Tum’ duet by Ronald and Philomena and ‘Jeevan Hem Amchem’ by Juliet, ‘Piti Piti Mog’ by Vivita, ‘Moti Bail’ by Anthony had the audience asking for more. It was young Alka and Harshal though stole the show with ‘Aya Mesth’, one of the evergreen numbers of yesteryears. Apart from this solo number ‘Tum Ye’ by Russel, ‘Kira Tum Kira; by Josline and duet ‘Hatant Dharun Haat’ by Russel and Vivita along with the group numbers ‘Kutam Hem Amchem’ and ‘Haanv Saiba Poltodi’ by Alka, Raima and Harshal were the special attraction of the evening.

The evening had more in store in the form of dances to some of the popular numbers. While Brahmavars’ talented kids were found in full spirit during their scintillating dance to the tunes of ‘Vande Matharam’ song, the fleeting feet of exceptionally talented youth had the audience storming the dance floor as they presented super dance to the tunes of chart-busters ‘Yore Pavsa’ and ‘Whistle Maar’. But it was the women power that mesmerized the audience as their performance to the tunes of foot-tapping number ‘Oh Bele’ received the loudest applause of the evening by cheering audience. The dances were choreographed by exceptionally gifted Juliet Furtado, Baikady and Vivita D’Souza of Handady.

On the occasion, Anuj Pethri, Shanthi Juliena Furtado, and Vivita D'Souza were honored for training all the artistes in singing and dance.

Another special attraction of the evening was the awesome compering by popular RJ Errol of Big FM and Steven Colaco, Udyavar. They introduced a unique brand of compering by their spontaneity, wit and humour.

The background music was provided by some of the big names of the vicinity such as Jerom Coelho on bass guitar, Ronald on lead, Sujya Rodrigues on keyboard and Cloy on drums.

All the sponsors of the evening were provided with mementoes as SEVA-SPIRIT recognized their contribution and acknowledged their help in staging Liplolim Taram.
