Bangalore: Angry protest, immolation bid - Congress finds revolt hard to handle

Daijiworld Media Network – Bangalore (SP)

Bangalore, Apr 2: Angry Congress party workers, people who are up in arms against certain candidates, supporters of candidates who seem to be losing in the race etc held a massive protest in front of the party’s office at Queens Road here on Monday April 1.

In addition, Karnataka Pradesh Congress Committee president G Parameshwar, and opposition leader in the assembly Siddaramaiah, who returned from New Delhi on Monday, are compelled to handle the situation with all their tact, as differences of opinion are likely to result in desertion of party and filing of nomination by disgruntled party workers as independents.

In the meanwhile, a supporter of ticket aspirant, P N Krishnamurty, demanding ticket for his leader from Rajarajeshwarinagar assembly constituency in the city, poured kerosene on himself and made a self-immolation bid. The police intervened, foiled his attempt, and took him into custody. Siddaramaiah, complaining of variation in blood pressure and gastric problems, has got himself admitted into a hospital.

The protestors were against putting up candidates like C S Putte Gowda, who recently crossed over from JD(S) to Congress, from Shravanabelagola constituency, Muniratna, a corporator of Bruhat Bengaluru Mahanagara Palike (BBMP) from Rajarajeshwari Nagar, and Tejaswini Sriramesh from Bangalore (south) constituency.

Several BBMP corporators and office bearers of Gottigere block Congress committee have expressed anger at the clearance of Tejaswini’s name, terming her as a rank outsider. Geeta Rajanna, aspirant from Turuvekere, is angry at the decision of allotting ticket to K Manju, a film producer.

“Manju was also identified with KJP, and the leaders, who guaranteed me a ticket from here under women’s quota, deceived me,” she said.

The Congress office looked like having been swarmed by a sea of humanity holding placards and shouting slogans, and the police had to put up barricades to stop them. The leaders are worried that the rebellion might spread like wild fire once the official list of selected candidates is released. In order to be able to handle the protestors, the party is believed to be planning to release lists of selected candidates in batches spread over several days, it is said.

Sandesh Shetty, Ravi Ullal, I can understand your feeling. You know politics? Basic theory is give hand to winner and damn kick to the looser. All good persons have left BJP, few dirty guys are left behind. This Lotus is without petals. Only the stem is left. That too will die soon on 8th may all wells are going to dry. RIP. (Rest in Pieces) mooru hodalli puru. BJP, KJP, BSR. Devided into 3 pieces with 3 letters.

There are more Congress Ticket aspirants in this election because they know CONGRESS IS WINNING HORSE.We don't know yet who may represent which party because it is SEASON for party change...It is quite natural that CONGRESS has more appeal and demand that's why too much crowd and rush.By the way every day BJP loosing 2-3 sitting MLAs and when it reaches election date,it may loose 30% of sitting MLAs.If BJp crosses 50 MLAs it could be greatest performance by a non PAN INDIAN POLITICAL PARTY....

ISMAIL.K.PERINJE, PERINJE-YANBU/KSA yes agreed that 2-3 MLA's are resigning from BJP. Also i would like to say that corrupt MLA's are going out from BJP. It doesnt matter if BJP loose in the coming election. Atleast party will become clean due to the corrupt people going out of the party.

This is not infighting, if BJP faces are smiling, they can have their last laugh. This is the extent of support Congress is enjoying. Karnataka public has made a decision to vote only for congress. Voters just want to have a able n corruption free candidate. If not they would have just neglected congress and voted for some other party. No demand for JDS, KJP or BJP, no body wants to contest from these 3 loosing parties. I bet Congress will win 145 seats n coming election. Any one like to challenge? BJP supporters have given up, I feel sorry to read their comments. It shows how much they are upset, BJP B forms are used as tissue.

For most of the post independence Era Congress ruled most of the states and at the center.Only Sangh parivar is opposed to Congress rule because only congress opposes divisive agenda of sangh parivar head on.It is no surprise that people of India are OK with the corruption of congress but they are not OK with the hatred agenda of Sangh Parivar. That is why Sangh parivar will be always on the wait list election after election.Whenever people give them chance they blow it away with their true colour. Afterall dogs tail cannot be made straight.

I like your optimism & we all should be. That transformation did not happen in 60 years and you think it will happen for one person who has bloody history of massacring thousands of innocents. You know something, It's just people of this country who don't believe in those ideologies. Forget about that, there are many states in the county where that party do not have a single legislator....

i totally agree with u Mr. Pramod, in 2008 BJP had only CM candidate that is Mr. Yedurrappa and by end of term BJP had 3 CM's , whereas congress has not d any CM candidate , so just thing what will be state if Congress comes to power list will be as follows Siddaramaiah, Parameshwar, Vishwanath, Moily, Oscar, Karge, SM Krishna , DK Shivkumar, Ramanath Rai, Jaffer Sharrif, many more senior leaders all will be behind the hot seat. As you rightly said no one is about people . they are just worried about Power , May be Congress, BJP , JDS, KJP, BSR, BSP, JDU, Makkala Paksha, Raithara Paksha every one.....

Lets say congress wins the assembly election. Then it will be the repeat of what we saw with BJP. You will get daily shows of revolts, factional fights, change in CM and of course minister indulging in massive corruption to make a fast buck. There is going to be massive revolts in congress once they release the election list.
