Sullia: Two girls drown in Payasvini river

Sullia, Apr 3: Two girls, both students of Doddadka government primary school, lost their lives after accidentally drowning in River Payasvini near their native place.

The tragedy occurred at Doddadka in Sampaje village in the taluk, on Tuesday April 2 evening.

Nishana (13), daughter of Younus and Asyamma from Sampaje Doddadka, and Moyinaz (12), daughter of Muhammed and Fatima, lost their lives.

The mothers of the girls were washing clothes in the river at Kokkegundi. The girls, who had accompanied their mothers, began playing. Sometime thereafter, they accidentally slipped and fell into the river.

Their bodies were recovered by the locals later.

Post mortem was conducted at the community health centre here. A report thereof was filed in the local police station.
