Qatar: Qatari Diar win 'Karnataka Cup 2013'

Qatar, Apr 3: Karnataka Sangha Qatars'  4th invitational 'Karnataka Cup 2013' cricket tournament came to an end with a glittering closing ceremony that was held at old Ideal school grounds on recently.

Ex-Indian all-rounder and coach of Hyderabad Team, Sunil Joshi was guest of honour for the event, which was witnessed by record crowd. Earlier  he was brought into the dias  in a  grand procession consisting of Camels, children  which made the event a spectacular one.

While welcoming the guests, V S Mannangi, president of KSQ, thanked all those who supported in organising the event. KSQ honoured Sunil Joshi on this  occassion for his contribution to the game of cricket.

Speaking on the occassion, Joshi congratulated KSQ for its effort in keeping the game alive among expats living in Qatar. Chief guest of the day K M Varghese- chairman advisory panel ICC, lauded the efforts of KSQ in bring the people of subcontinent together by organising such tournaments.

Chidanand Naik, main sponsor of the event Dr Sanjay Kudari vice president of KSQ, Deepak Shetty, general secretary of KSQ  were present on the dias. Zafar Abbasi compered the closing ceremony and Anil Boloor, sports secretary proposed vote of thanks. 
 
In a keenly contested finals QatariDiar  defeated Al Miftah  by 11 runs; batting first Qatari Diar scored 95 in 12 overs. In reply, Al Muftah could score only 84.

Alla Ditta of Qatari Diar was declared as man of the finals. Best bowler award went to Raja of Hanan, best batsman award went to Shailesh of M Pallonji, best all rounder award went to Numan  of QatariDiar, best wicket keeper award went to Jaabir of Hanan and man of the series award went to Khurram of Al Muftah. Khurram also won a return ticket to Mumbai courtesy Jet Airways.
