Advani for Indo-Pak union

Chitrakoot (UP), Apr 3 (PTI): BJP leader L K Advani today said he agreed with the concept of unified India mooted by BJP ideologue Deen Dayal Upadhyaya and late socialist leader Ram Manohar Lohia.

"Once Dr Lohia and Upadayay had issued a joint statement on the concept of a confederation of India and Pakistan," Advani said while inaugurating the two-day state working committee of Uttar Pradesh BJP.

Advani said that once he had a chance to meet Lohia as a journalist and the latter while emphasising that he was a socialist said he respected nationalist ideology of Bharatiya Jansangh.

According to Advani, Lohia had said his analysis was that Jansangh's concept of unified India is something a common Muslim perceives that if the party comes to power it would attack Pakistan and include it in India.

The BJP leader said Lohia's analysis was "wrong" and he should meet Deen Dayal Upadhyaya.

"Then the two leaders had a chance to meet and Lohia repeated the same thing to Panditji (Upadhyay). Deen Dayalji explained to him that a day would come when Muslims in Pakistan will understand that by partition they have not done good to themselves," he said.

"Panditji said that they would realise that it was a historical mistake. At that time, there would be a possibility that India and Pakistan would form a confederation," he added.

Advani said that a few years ago on the birth anniversary of Lohia he had narrated the incident to Prime Minister Manmohan Singh.

"The Prime Minister asked me that how much of it is possible now. I replied that it was possible when Panditji said about this, the possibility also increased with the policy adopted by Atal Bihari Vajpayee, but with your stand that whatever they do talks would not be interrupted and would continue, then there is no possibility of this," he said.

If this ever materializes, the subcontinent will be a formidable force to reckon with in two areas, cricket and nuclear arms. But chances are that terrorists/underworld might get control on both these areas.

What is the use of re-unification now, when almost the entire Hindu population lost everything in Pakistan and came to India as refugees during partition.

Even within India, we are unable to protect Hindus in Kashmir and elsewhere from the fundamentalists.

By re-unification, we are inviting more traitors, when we are already burdened with traitors within India.

Pakistan is sinking under the weight of its own sins.

    Let it sink completely.

We have many Pakistanis living in India as Indians by virtue but worship Pakis Ideology by heart. By merging Pakistan with India means, they should be happy but we have to suffer lot. As it is few places in our few States became mini Pakistan and entire India facing the trouble. Why don’t we press for retirement age of MPs’ & MLAs’ so that we can get good youth Leadership in Central & State Governments? Because few people talk nonsense when they cross the age of 70 We should not vote for those Political Parties who dig up religious issues in Politics and giving assurance to built Mandir, Mosques & Churches, etc. Let us keep our GOD in our Heart and Development with good living in our Mind and then you see the difference

former us secretary of state madeline albrite rightly said that "pakistan is a migrane for entire world". agreed once it was part of india but now 99% of indians think that pakistan is a cancer in this planet. they are killing thier own brothers and sisters without any fear of god and non muslims are slaughtered like lambs. in 1947 total non muslim population in pakistan was 20% and today it is less than 2%. just imagine where this country is heading for. mr. advani, thanks, your time is up, it is time to retire.

I believe everyone here is being hasty in trying to criticise Advani here, probably because of his party affiliations, but we cannot deny the fact that his idea or rather Deen Dayal's idea that there is a possibility of India and Pakstan forming a union. That being said uniting two countries divided along the lines of both ideology and religious views, is going to be no walk in the park. I think our governments should actually try and give this idea a chance. They could maybe creating an economic union first and then gradually move towards unification of the state machinery.
We need people like Deen dayal who can think differently and not just blindly spew venom at enemies.

We can live without Pakistan provided they mind their own business.
I was shocked to read this news today "An Indian Army jawan was found in an unconscious state with both his eyes damaged (gouged out) in a nullah near Chowki Choran on Jammu-Poonch highway near Akhnoor,".
I guess we should now send this JOKER back to PAPISTAN....
