Mangalore: Man drowns while fishing in Netravati river

Mangalore, Apr 4: A man who went fishing in Netravati river met watery grave here on Thursday April 4.

The deceased has been identified as Paul Lobo (52), a resident of Jeppupatna, went fishing in the river near the Mahakalipadpu railway bridge.

It is said that while he fishing, he got stuck in a marshy spot and was washed away, despite being a good swimmer.

Fire brigade with seven personnel led by assistant fire station officer Siddalingappa rushed to the spot.

Around 25 people, including the firemen, rescue teams and locals launched a search operation.

After an intense search, Paul's body was fished out from the river.

Paul is survived by his wife and son Godfrey Francis Lobo (19).

    The fire Brigade department need stretcher to carry the wounded or deceased in all their vehicles.

    but one thing is i didn't understand that why fire brigade is coming to this kind operation? funny thing is all fire fighters are using helmets in river. this people doing rescue operation in fishing boat..what an idea sir jee..what a great force...

    In water Fire Brigade personnel should use life jackets instead of helmets. May his soul RIP….
