Mangalore: Ivan Mascarenhas bags best Konkani Teacher Award

Mangalore, Apr 5: Ivan Mascarenhas, teacher from Bejai Lourdes Central School has been conferred with the Late Jessy Castelino Memorial Best Konkani Teacher Award.

The award presented during the 'Koknkni Shikpa Sombhram-2013' programme organized by Konkani Prachar Sanchalan, Karnataka Konkani Sahitya Academy and Mandd Sobhaan on Thursday April 4.

Addressing the gathering, Fr Francis Xavier Gomes, principal of Rosario College said that Konkani teachers play a major role in developing Konkani language. Therefore, other than teaching, they should also try to include Konkani in other school activities, he said .

Roy Castelino, president, Konkani Prachar Sanchalan, in his introductory remarks, claimed that there had been revolutionary changes in the Konkani education field in the last six years.

Dr Devdas Pai, registrar, Konkani Sahitya Academy, Stany Alvares, president, Maand Sobhaan, Eric Ozario, Anil D’Cunha, Fr Pratap Naik, Victor Mathias, Louis J Pinto, Rony Arun, Rony Crasta, Sanchalan were present.

A total of 90 teachers from Dakshina Kannada and Udupi districts participated in the Konkani programme.
