It's easy to comment on what's happening in India and to think that they are from a poor family or have some story behind these crimes. but the truth is its a nightmare for people who get attacked like this. when a gang attacks you and you cry, run, struggle for your life you will feel the pain. I too was attacked by this gang on 12th January 2011 and i had to fight back, i was beten but dint give up and in the mean time my friends reached the site and i got saved. My gold chain was stolen and i was wounded badly. I was travelling abroad in two days time and i was not able to go to police with a complaint. I heard from my friends that i was not the first to get attacked, but many people were attacked before too (especially students). It was a good spot for these guys to attack innocent people and loot them. I feel happy that finally justice is delivered and they are behind bars. If i had taken some courage and went to the police that day, i could have helped prevent attacks on others.

10 years RI for the so called "dacoity" - Is this case investigated properly? I think no.

    1. Going by their age, i feel this could be their first crime. Is it worth branding them as dacoits?

    2. A theft is a theft. But in Chennai we have politicians who have looted in crores & crores and are still at large

    3. The bigest crime of these four kids are that they should have been from a poor family, with no political background or money to prove their side of the story.

I sympathise with the parents and their family for what they are going through.

This is India for you. The case is solved in less than 2 years and judgement given so soon. There are humpteen number of cases which keeps dragging for years together, even though crimes are committed in full public view.

Not only the judicial set up and the investigating team are to be blamed but also the media which has published the story in such a biased manner.

This could well make a very good episode of "Crime patrol" or "Satyameva jayate" to depict how innocent young youths are trapped a combination of NRI / political people / inefficient judicial system.

All are my personal views. I can be wrong too. But somewhere something keeps saying in my mind that injustice has been served.
Beware of your comments guys - This is India and you could get punished for publishing such comments if you dont have political / monetary support.

Such judgements needs to be published at large/ govt should make posters and paste it near crowded areas, so that other culprits will know the consequences.

It looks it is bit harsh judgement for these five guys but there are some political leaders they loot not in Rupees which is hard to express we can say in billions of Dolars but they are free and contest the election also freely as if nothing has happened to them Anyhow there is a saying in kannada if you steal a 'betelnut also a thief' and also if you steal a 'elephant aslo a thief' but in this case the punishment is bit harsh.

Rupees 18000 from ATM 1000 in Cash = 19000 ( Nineteen Thousand Rupees) landed them in Jail for 10 years. Our politicians who loot Nineteen thousand Crores never enter Jail .. even if it happen also they will land in Hospital with VIP facilities as all our looter politicians are Heart Patients... Hope this time election commission will accept only politicians with good medical record and not heart patients. Kab Sudrega India !!!

I hope nothing like this will ever happen again. We have to realise that our place relies financially on all the non-residents studying here and they need our hospitality and support - not attacks.
