Mangalore: Mime show VCD to create voter awareness released

Mangalore, Apr 6: The video CD of a mime show to spread awareness on election rights, as part of the ongoing SVEEP programme, was launched by deptuy commissioner Harsh Gupta here on Saturday April 6.

Zilla panchayat CEO Dr K N Vijayaprakash and MCC commissioner Harish Kumar were also present on the dais.

Speaking after the launch, Dr K N Vijayaprakash said that with a view to create effective awareness among the public regarding the basic right to vote, such kinds of special cultural programmes have been organized. "Around 73% to 74% of voting is normally recorded in DK district, but this year we aim to increase the percentage through awareness," he said.

"This mime CD will be displayed in various places like multiplexes, theatres and TV medias. Several other programmes have also been planned by the SVEEP team in the coming days to spread awreness," he said.

Speaking on the occasion, DC Harsh Gupta said that the officials are quite sure of achieving an increase in the percentage voter turnout, as the SVEEP programme being carried out has been highly effective in creating awareness among the general public on the need to vote.

"All people have to make up their minds, come forward and vote for better governance. Voting is our responsibility, hence it is very neccessery to be true to it. Many more programmes will be launched in the coming days through SVEEP," he said.

The mime CD contain 4 different promos, totally for 9 minutes. The mime show has been directed and created by mime Ramdas, enacted by Vineeth, Suman and Rahul, with camera and editing by Prasanna Suratkal.

Oath taking ceremony by the officials and the gathering was also held on the occasion.

The DC handed over the copy of the mime show to the officials present on the occasion, namely DHO Ranganath, ZP assistant secretary Gopalakrishna Bhat, women and child welfare department deputy director Shakuntala, RTO Mallikarjuna and others.

The director and creator of the mime show, mime Ramdas was also present on the occasion.

    Mime: guess the message is - to be quite, vote whoever is there (mostly corrupt and goondas) and suffer another 5 years. We cannot ask - "aur koi option nahi he kya?"
