Two killed in train accident


Chennai, Apr 10 (IANS): Two people died and several injured when 11 bogies of Muzafarpur-Yashwantpur Express derailed in Tamil Nadu.

The accident occurred at Chitheri area near Arakonam, around 60 km from here, at about 6 a.m. Wednesday, said a southern railway official.

"As far as the information we have received two persons lost their lives when 11 bogies of Muzafarpur-Yashwantpur Express derailed at Chitheri around 6 a.m. today (Wednesday)," a railway official told IANS.

The official said a rescue team was on its way to the accident spot. The injured had been rushed to the government hospital.

Train traffic in the Arakonam route has been affected due to the accident.
