Gunman kills 13 in Serbia rampage

Belgrade, Apr 10 (IANS/EFE): At least 13 people were gunned down Tuesday in Velika Ivanca, a village located south of Belgrade, the capital of Serbia, in what was apparently a rampage sparked by a family dispute, police chief Milorad Veljovic said.

Two people, including the 60-year-old suspect, were seriously wounded, Veljovic told B92 radio.

The suspected shooter has a firearms permit and no criminal record, Veljovic said.

The man went from house to house in the village, shooting people in five dwellings, but the motive for the rampage is not known, the police chief said.

The victims were six men, six women and a baby, Veljovic said from the shooting scene.

The gunman tried to kill his wife and then shoot himself, but both survived, police said.
