Kundapur: Body of missing man found in Maravanthe lake

Kundapur, Apr 11: The body of a man who went missing two days ago was found in a lake near Maravanthe Maraswamy temple on Wednesday April 10 evening.

The deceased is Sadashiv Shetty (48) from Areshiroor in Byndoor.

The locals spotted a pair of trousers, shirt and footwear near the lake and informed Gangolli police. Later while searching, they found the body in a decomposed state.

Sampath Kumar, Gangolli inspector visited the spot. He later checked the deceased man’s trouser pocket where he found a mobile phone, purse, pan card and a photo. With the help of the mobile phone, police ascertained the identity of the man.

As per the information obtained, Sadashiv Shetty left for Udupi two days back for some work. Sources said that ever since his son passed away two years ago, he had become mentally ill. The police have registered a case of suicide as per the statement given by his wife Rohini and other family members.

The employees of 24*7 helpline helped in retrieving the body from the lake. The body was taken for post-mortem to Maravanthe government hospital and later handed over to the family members.
