Senior leader approached me to topple UPA-II: Gadkari

Nagpur, Apr 12 (PTI): Former BJP president Nitin Gadkari has claimed that a "senior leader" had approached him to topple the Congress-led UPA-II government at the Centre.

Though the "senior leader" got in touch with him during his stint as the BJP president, he maintained that he had outrightly rejected the "advice".

Gadkari did not reveal the identity of the "senior" leader."Main mard ka baccha hun jo karta hun saamne se karunga (I am a man of principle and whatever I do, I will do it publicly). No backstabbing," the BJP leader told a gathering at a ceremony here last evening.

"My conscience is clear and I have no separate agenda."Referring to the recent developments in his political career, the former BJP president said he has done nothing wrong. The Income Tax department had conducted a probe into the alleged dubious investments in Gadkari's Purti group of companies.

    Gadkari Saab, too late to reveal the secret and topple the UPA-2 Government. First, you have to set your record right since you did some malpractice to avoid Taxation. Else there is no difference between you and Most of the Congi Leaders. But only difference is, you earn on legal way and avoid tax but others earn on corruptions so there is no taxation clause on their corrupt income

    All political parties come to the public every 5 years in way of asking vote to topple the government. That is nothing new. Mr. Gadkari, if you are "Mard" then you should tell the name so that public can take action not the political parties. Do you think all are idiots who vote on your lies. The leader who approached you may be a hand of your kids or grand kids. who knows.

    I dont think Sushma Swaraj is any way involved in their illegal activities. She was coming to Bellary every year as she had promised the people of Bellary during the election when she had contested against Sonia Gandhi. Reddy brothers respect her because Congress had strong hold in Bellary before she contested against Sonia Gandhi. She was able to attract large number of people towards BJP .
