Dubai, Apr 16 : Karaval Milan, an association of representing 19 parishes of Udupi Diocese organized the preliminary round for its Mega Konkani Quiz competition successfully at Hotel Quick Bite ,Deira. 12 teams from various Mangalorean Associations has participated in this most eagerly awaited interesting competition. Four Teams has been made it to finals with Belle Vision and USWAS Shirva directly made it with their superior performance. The three teams ended up with a tie and in super round Udenthichim Neketram, Omjurchem Dive are prevailed over Udyawarites, UAE, On their way to final.
Earlier Nanu Marol Thottam welcomed the teams and wished them good luck. A delicious break fast was served prior to the beginning of the quiz. Nanu Marol Thottam then welcomed the quiz master Gladson D Almeida (Brahmavar) who especially flown from Qatar to conduct this prestigious contest. Naveen Sequeira, President of Karaval Milan offered flower bouquet to Gladson D’Souza and Rony Bayndoor, former President of Karawal Milan passed on the quiz question folder to Gladson Almeida and officially declared the opening of the competition.
Gladson D’Almeida explained the simple rules to follow and requested all the 12 teams to follow the rules and make the quiz more friendly than a exam type. In response the participants had really had a good time with a friendly atmosphere. Quiz Master, multi Talented Gladson D Almeida put the participants under the comfort zone with his easy go nature and mild jokes.
The teams Participated in the contest were:
Uswas Shirva, Emirates Pangalites, Udenthichim Neketram, Omzoorche Dive, Pearls of Mangalore, Bellevision, SFX Kutam Mudarangady, Konkan Bells Belthangadi, Little Flowers Mukamar, Udyavaraites UAE, Konkani Milan and Katapady Konkans.
The quiz was in Konkani and was interesting with a blend of various subjects such as prominent personalities, Konkani awards, websites, singers, association related news, Mangalore Airport, Mangalore Culture, Konkani riddles, Konkani authors, poets, writers, singers and Mangaloreans Daily life. It was a fun loving contest and all enjoyed the contest. Though this was the elimination round, all teams participated in a very friendly manner and given their best shots. As our Mangalorean Culture teaching us to respect each other, The Participating teams not fall behind to respect appreciating the winning teams.
Eminent Personality Mr Dayan D Souza Mukamar shared his thoughts and appreciated the participants to come forward to this competition and wished Karaval Milan very best for their broad thinking and arranging this quiz competition in Konkani.
From the participants teams Godwin D’Souza from Bellevision, Dolphy D’Mello from Emirates Pangalites and Robert Fernandes for Udyavarites congratulated the Organizers Karaval Milan for organizing such a wonderful Quiz Competition and they all opined that by this Quiz Competetion all are reminded about the richness of our Mother Tongue Konkani and how important that we should teach the same to our younger generation.
The Final round will be held on 17th of May 2013 will be held at the Rashid Auditorium and also a wonderful Konkani drama will be staged by Karaval Milan titled: Shimti Nathullo Kolo written by Late Sunny A D Souza and Directed by Sannu Monis Boliye.
