Mangalore, Apr 19: A padayatra by the Congress, headed by Janardhan Poojary and other leaders, was held from Morgans Gate to Kankanady on Thursday April 18 in view of the upcoming elections.

The march was flagged off at Morgan'ss Gate and moved towards Kankanady via Jeppu market, Marnamikatta, Nandigudde, and Valencia.

Addressing the media on this occasion, Poojary said that Lobo is highly experienced especially with regard to administration and the public will surely bless him.

“The five years of administration by the state BJP is the worst of all. Land mafia, corruption, rape, and minority discrimination were on full swing over this period and people are fed up of these anti-social elements," he said.

"The people of Mangalore have given the best result in the recent MCC elections and this time in the MLA elections too they will opt for better change. We will stick to the agendas put forth to the people in the MCC elections and it will be much easier to fulfill those if Congress comes to power in the state and at the centre. There will be no tax hike,” added Poojary.

He also addressed the general public at a few places like Jeppu Market and Nandigudde.

Candidate J R Lobo, leaders Ivan D’Souza, Dennis D’Silva, T K Sudhir, Harikrishna Bantwal, Shashiraj Ambat, Ashith Periera, Coporators Praveen Chandra Alva, Asha Gretta D’Silva, Jancintha Alfred and many other party workers, well-wishers and supporters were also present.

My point is both state and center together are responsible for the deteriorating conditions in India. People are more concerned about their own pockets rather than serving the society. Forget all this the situation is so worse in the future forget wearing gold chain and coming out. Ladies cannot think of coming out of the houses. When the whole world is advanced in many ways, Indian ladies may have to confine to their houses again. This should not happen

Mr.Janardana poojary the man behind the success of congress in MCC elections. Stood firmly with congress and Gandhi family in all it's difficult times and motivated congress workers all the way, known for his aggressive campaign against corrupt BJP Govt and sangh parivar. Mangalore should be ready to elect Mr.Poojary as the MP of Mangalore constituency in the next LS elections in 2014. All the best to this selfless, non communal leader of South Kanara.

Do Padayatras really get the candidate votes or is it a sheer waste of time, money and energy. Instead those calories could have been used for industrial production in Karnataka. Silly people.

More and More Padayatra and Canvasing by the likes of Poojarys and the Moilys will go to the disadvantage of the Congress because of their Bad Mouth and Psuedo Secularism. Better , such people keep low during electioneering.

Well. this time Mangalore needs a change and Lobo, a KAS officer is a better candidate given the fact that he was Mangalore City commissioner who was able , efficient and capable.

I can challenge any ardent BJP supporter that Bhat HAS NOT DONE anything significant during his tenure.

He turned out to be a SPINELESS MLA who didn't protest when girls were beaten, when (Im)moral policing took place or when law & order deteriorated in Mangalore.

He has FAILED to represent majority of Mangaloreans and was no where to be seen when communal conflicts took place.

Then Mangaloreans whats the point of having such WEAK MLA's??????

@N.M - Where was jr lobo when the attacks took place? Regarding Yogish Bhats work - He was responsible for widening of the main roads by demolishing old buildings in Car Street area which was BJP strong hold which nobody else could do in the history of Mangalore city . Can we expect the same from jr lobo to widen the roads in Bunder or Kudroli area which is a congress stronghold and cities most congested and dirtiest roads?

Jatin.. you are trying to pass the buck here... Is'nt it the duty of the peoples representative to protest? Why did Yogish Bhat as a MLA did NOT protest? or was he lending his tacit support to the Sanghis?

Apart from broadening 1 or 2 roads, has he done anything to prevent deteriorating law & order?
He seems to be lethargic and below average.

When election comes than "Padayatra" & when Sonia Gandhi is ill he is performing "URULU SEVA". After the election they disappear and busy in blame game. One more thing for sure this time Poojary will not get ticket to fight M.P. post from Mangalore.

Mr BJP's Pada Yathra is a bonus for MR J R Lobo's kitty ....Mr J poojari has a privilege of MR CLEAN and has no embarrassment of corruption allegations or so in political life that makes him tall. The pulse of Mangalorean voters are in favor of JR Lobo and BJP now resorting to find a loopholes/faults in JRL's submitted nomination paper!!!!!In fact BJP LOST WAR/ACCEPTED DEFEAT BEFORE IT COULD START!!!!

Covering the constituency through the processions is a good way to involve the voters and bring awareness in the public .This will surely click possitive as Congress march to Bellary. This shows unity and oneness with the workers and leaders and help the voter too to take right decision.Wish the participants all the best and hope for the winning results.Thanq.
