Abu Dhabi, Apr 19: It was an awesome performance – a breathtaking event which unfolded at Abu Dhabi Country Club on Friday 19 April, when KCO presented their annual 'Fiesta 2013 to the amusement of the Abu Dhabi and UAE’s audience who converged from all over the UAE. It was a great performance by each and every artiste, a splendid show and great organization by KCO, Abu Dhabi’s premier Konkani organization.

The audience comprising of Goans and Mangaloreans from all over the UAE attended this superb show of entertainment – a wholesome package of variety entertainment as promised.

Konkani’s greatest performers came on one stage under the mantle of KCO (Konkani Cultural Organization) to present a brilliant performance in Abu Dhabi. As predicted, the event produced one of the best performance by each and every performer and gained the accolade of the sporting audience.

The programme started with a soothing prayer song rendered by Joshal D’Souza and Rupert Vaz followed by Gods invocation and blessings by Fr Valerian Fernandes OFM Cap, spiritual director of KCO.

KCO’s welcome song composed by Rupert Vaz was sung by KCO members under the leadership of Renny Lobo.

Soon after the Welcome song Rupert Vaz welcomed the gathering and handed over the proceedings to the veteran Master Compere Leslie Rego who did a brilliant job throughout the day keeping the audience on their toes by his unique style.

The day's programme was divided into 3 sessions with songs and music evenly distributed among the artistes.

During the first session, the seasoned Ivan Sequeira started with the song – Muja Kudinthlea Shirani – the song immortalized by him during his youth days composed by the legendary singer the late Wilfred Rebimbus which was applauded by the audience, which was immediately followed by the song “Mobile”.

Then it was the turn of the new upcoming talent, who has been creating waves in Konkani Music – Kevin Misquith who sang Muja Anja and Kedna Kedna to the delight of the audience.

Then it was the turn of crowd’s favourite singer Nephie Rod who sang Lis Boa, America Pavshi and Goa which had the roaring response from the appreciative crowd.

It was Baila King Kalashree Claud D’Souza – a lively perfomer sang his first song Sinzorina and a duet song Zaithe Tharnate sang along with Ivan Sequeira received thunderous applause from the audience.

Immediately after the Konkani songs, Goa’s famous rock band “Purple Rain” took over the stage to give their live performance which lasted for nearly 30 minutes, giving the holiday crowd ample chance to dance. The dance floor was crowded with dance loving crowd for which the talented musicians from the band did not disappoint.

Between the intervals Leslie and Claud presented some rib tickling jokes which left the audience into roars of laughter.

Soon after the first session, the charismatic KCO president, Bennette D’Mello gave his welcome address highlighting KCO’s achievements of the past year and the activities performed by KCO to help the deprived section of the society and stressed the importance of holding these kind of events to assist to meet their objectives. He thanked especially the ever helping sponsors and audience for their generosity and support.

The event sponsor Hyssna International and other gold and silver sponsors were honoured along with well wishers and Daijiworld for their support to conduct the event of this magnitude. Ronald Pinto, the event sponsor appreciated KCO’s efforts and said that he was proud to be associated with KCO’s events since the past several years.

The second session started with the immortal song Mogan Asun Boren, Claudia, Tum, Sorga Razanth, sung by Nephie Rod accompanied by a new upcoming singer from Abu Dhabi Joshal D’Souza.

Kevin Misquith rendered his famous “Tembe Tembe” and “Kalza Tar” songs to the cheers of the audience. Ivan Sequiera sang Gadi Udeli Bo Kushichi and a Hindi song “Jab Koi Baat Bigad Jaye” equally received standing ovation. The mellifluous voice of Ivan which had mesmerized his fans throughout the past years once again captured the hearts of his ever waiting fans.

Claud, a great entertainer, as usual was at his best sang the famous enduring song “Surayacha Kirnani, along with Nephie to the joy of the audience.

The jokes performed by Leslie and Claud had audience in splits of laughter and succeeded in entertaining them.

The “Bollywood Dancers” gave a breathtaking performance with their scintillating dances to tune of Hindi songs and music. Their synchronization and co-ordination was superb and was well appreciated by the audience and asking for more.

The “Purple Rain” set the stage on fire with their brilliant performance throughout the day – the crowd dancing and swaying for their contentment. They presented new and old songs and music - rock, pop, jazz and what not.

The father/son duo – Adrian and Alston Gomes from Kuwait - gave excellent back up through their music which won them accolades.

Fr Valerian Fernandes, spiritual director of KCO was honoured by Leo Rodrigues, the senior member of KCO.

The final session was interspersed with dances by the professional Bollywood dancers, songs by Ivan, Nephie, Claud and Kevin who rendered songs like Chandrem Uden ailo, Tum Sopon go Fanthyache, Marina, Yeh Vaada Raha (Hindi), Ahiya – Burfi (Hindi), Molbar Chandrem Udela, Rath Ke Humsafar (Hindi), Yeh samah, Samah Yeh Pyar Ka, Kaise Paheli, Anja Sarke, Cha Cha Cha, Love maka Zala, Kushi Zata etc.

The lively performance of these artistes and the brilliant performance of the Band “Purple Rain” proved why they are sought after by their fans and admirers.

It was “Purple Rain” band gave an impetus to the audience to invade the dance floor for the beat of their superb foot tapping music and rendition of western, Hindi and Konkani songs.

The atmosphere at the venue was like carnival type as the people mingled with each other freely and the ambience for perfect and relaxing.

During the session all the artistes including the singers, musicians, bollywood dancers sound engineers and others were honoured. The auction was conducted by Leslie Rego to generate funds towards KCO’s projects.

A Raffle draw was also conducted with valuable gifts were given away. There were spot prizes throughout the day.

Inez D’Cunha – KCO’s public Relations was the anchor for the raffle draw and honouring of the sponsors.

A sumptuous buffet lunch was served during the day.

Interaction by the inimitable Leslie Rego made the event more exciting. Leslie proved himself to be the king among the Master of Ceremonies in the present time and his popularity showed. Leslie acknowledged the love support and confidence shown on him to be the compere of KCO events for the past 6 years.

A word of appreciation to the crisp sound arrangement which was vital part of the event provided by Broadway Event Management.

The grand finale was held with Purple Band playing the masala songs and music to the pleasure of the fun loving audience consisting Hindi, Konkani, English, Marathi, Sri Lankan and others. People were asking for more as the day came to an end such was the impact of the event on the audience.

KCO once again proved that they could organize any event to entertain the audience and demonstrated their ability with discipline and unity.

The programme concluded at 6:35 pm with the KCO members singing the traditional “Laudate”.

The success of the show was the result of meticulous planning, dedicated preparation, excellent arrangement and professional performance by all entertainers. This event showcased the unity and organizational capabilities of KCO members who worked hand in hand for the success of this show.

    I fell in love with Nephie for the beautiful old love songs she sang, which remembered me of my old days, where I use to attend all musical nites in Mumbai.God Bless and Cheers to KCO Team for organising such a wonderful and memorable event. All the best for the coming years

    KCO Fiesta 2013 - Congratulations to KCO President and his dedicated team members for a wonderful arrangements. Please avoid slow songs when crowd is on the Dance Floor. More jokes & commedy were missing. Purple Band & Bolly wood Dance group... wow you rock the show. We expect more from you KCO & wish you all the best.
