Mangalore, Apr 19: "Earlier, we used to send notices and summons through post but now Karnataka Lokayukta has introduced a service system to all public servants of Karnataka wherein notices are sent through fax and emails to expedite the disposal of cases. The advanced technology of sending notices through fax and emails will save time as well as expenditure," said Lokayukta Juctice Y Bhaskar Rao.

He was speaking after inaugurating the first phase of the Lokayukta SP office building at Urwa Store here on Friday April 19.

He further added that fax and email facility will be extended to the general public too, so that people can lodge complaints in a faster and easier way.

"We have complaints pending since 2001, hence our main intention is to dispose off complaints within one year. Our mission is to provide transparent administration and any government officer who is involved in corruption will surely face appropriate action," he said.

He also added that 4,857 complaints related to Lokayukta jurisdiction, 3,644 complaints related to Upa Lokayukta-1 jurisdiction and 5,105 complaints related to Upa Lokayukta-2 jurisdiction were pending since the beginning of Lokayukta in the state, but between February 15 and April 14, 802 complaints in Lokayukta, 416 in Upa Lokayukta-1 and 664 in Upa Lokayukta-2 were disposed.

Upa Lokayukta Justice Subhash B Adi said In Bangalore the conviction rate is 66 percent but in Mangalore it is too low.

Lokaykuta ADGP H N Sathyanarayana Rao said, “We get the highest complaints from Bangalore, Tumkur, Mysore and Udupi, but not many from Mangalore. People of Mangalore should come forward to express their problems in dealing with government officials or government offices."
