Dubai, Apr 20: The 5th Lancy Noronha Nite, a free Konkani musical evening hosted at JSS School premises, Jumeirah on Friday, April 19 was an full-fledged entertainment package with music, dance and comedy.

Joseph Mathias, a Mangalorean entrepreneur, philanthropist, and talented singer organised the event to promote young musician and composer Lancy Noronha, and other talented artistes from Dubai.

Familiar faces of Dubai Asha Pinto Fernandes, Vincent Rodrigues, Lanita Nornha, Shyna Noronha, Preema D'Souza, Mario Rego, Sabitha Dsouza, Jeevan Vaz, Cresilla Rodrigues, Dainy D'Souza, along with Lancy Noronha and Joseph Mathias rendered songs from Lancy Noronha's lyrics and compositions.

Arun Lobo's Feat Beat group presented spectacular dance performances that added more glamour to the evening.

Well-known comedy team of Pradeep Barboza, Deepak D'Silva and Lavina Fernandes had the audience in roars of laughter with their innovative skits and jokes.

Apart from hit Konkani songs, Kannada and Tulu songs also captured the attention of the audience, as every song was appreciated by the music lovers with huge rounds of applause.

It was Dony and Asha Correa couple who gave life to the show with their peppy and vibrant style of compering. The husband-wife pair presented the show with wit and humour with masterful command over language.

Songs like 'Narlam Volem' 'Madoncnji', 'Annachi', 'Fabella' and others received rousing response from the audience.

Stan Menonca, who presented a musical nite recently in Mangalore was present during the show. His musical album released 'Ashavadi' which was released in Mangalore was again released in Dubai during the event. Walter Nandalike of daijiworld released the album.

During a brief stage programme Walter Nandalike, Dayan D'Souza, Vincent Fernandes, Ramiro Mascarenhas were guest on the dais. Joseph Mathias and Lancy Noronha were also present.

"This is a rare moment in Konkani musical show not only as Lancy Noronha has provided an opportunity to talented and budding artistes, but also because the Nite has witnessed the presence of three popular young Konkani composers on a single stage. This is a rare scene, as these days we nornally do not see more than one composer on the stage in Konkani programmes," said Walter Nandalike in his address. He was referring to Lancy Noronha, Stan Mendonca and Vincent Fernandes, all three popular composers of current generation who came on stage in solidarity with Lancy Noronha Nite.

"All three of them reside outside India, music is their hobby but they have sacrificed their quality time for Konkani music. They are the real hope for the future of Konkani music," he said.

In a word of appreciation for Joseph Mathias, he said, "He is a successful who entrepreneur loves Konkani music and spends his resources and time on music. He also promotes budding artistes. On the whole, Konkani music is in the safe hands of a person like Joseph," he said.

Joseph Mathias was felicitated for his dedicated service to Konkani community and music. Walter Nandalike presented a shawl and flowers to Joseph Mathias and his wife Flavia Mathias. Dayan D'Souza presented a peta to Mathias.

"The success of today's musical show goes to all the artistes who rendered their voices; this honour is for all of them and not for me," Joseph Mathias said acknowledging the honour.

He thanked the sponsors, media, and all those who were involved in the show. "I will support budding singers as much as possible. We must see Konkani music growing day by day," he said.

He appreciated Lancy Noronha for his efforts and said Lancy has huge potential to become a great singer-composer in Konkani.

Raju Francis Fernandes of SPPT, the main sponsor of the event was felicitated during the event.

Earlier, all the artistes who were part of the musical nite were felicitated by Joseph and Lancy.

A short magic show was also organised to entertain the children and the adults. Well-known magician of Mangalorean community in Dubai - Antony Mascarenhas from Puttur - presented the magic show.

Ramiro Mascarenhas directed the music for the show.

Bro Francis, we all are KK Wilfy Rbimbus fans but unfortunately we dont get to listen to his golden songs on stage due to restrictions imposed by his fly members! Let us atleast support other budding composers and singers like Lancy, Vincent,Gratian,Stany,Maxim and many more....so that konkani music survives.

A great show by Lancy Noronha & Joseph Mathias. Well compered
by Dony & Asha Correa, Music by the uncrowned Konkani Musician
of Dubai, Ramerio was remarkable. Well organized and the audience
were glued to their chairs awaiting for Pradeep/Deepak/Lavina to appear on stage in between for their hilarious jokes/skits. Young aspiring talents were given an opportunity and all artists on stage and backstage have performed their tasks professionally. The mixing and sound effects too were up to the mark.

Whilst reading the comments, note there are some remarks that the tunes, lyrics were copied. I totally disagree to this point as a witness, The titles might have been the same but the lyrics and tunes were entirely different.
When you speak/sing in the same language then obviously, you tend to use the same available words in the listed vocabulary. Please encourage / appreciate organizers & artistes who have taken the trouble, by bearing expenses and have come forward with an event free of charge to entertain us.

    Hi Francis,
    I read your comments.
The dictionary and the meanings are same for all the people. Blood will be called blood and water will be called water. Will you call sunrise as sunset and sunset as sunrise? Just because Wilfy Rebimbus, with due respect to him, has used these words in his songs, it doesn’t imply that these words cannot be used by anybody else. As and when they are used, they don’t become “copied from” as they have their own individuality in the song. It was a free show man. Enjoy such shows. Don’t pakau.

Lancys Programme was Excellant and appriciable

Only couple of photographers obstrcting audinces and specially small childrens very offenly right in front of stage which should be avoid.
An interwal will allow veivers to re-charge themselves.
Small paid tea/cofee stall could have been more helfull for families carying children along.

Lets not compare everyone to Late Wilfy. Wilfy has his style and Lancy has his style.Lets not compare . Songs are created by Lancy are really climbing up and up on the ladder . Theres a good possibility they can become leading group in coming days.Keep it up and keep continuity and do not lose the phase . Wilfy did not become singer in one day or anybody else. Everybody has its own originality and takes little time to grow and grow. All the best Lancy & his group. You are on the right track and your success is inevitable and guaranteed. See you in Shaikh Rashid auditorium in coming days. You are already a successful and we need to see more in coming days

Show was not bad, jokes were good but i just feel all the songs, tunes also lyrics and concepts even the title of the songs for example Lanpona, Sangeeth Kutam, chilipili suknyano, Mai, Manglur Shera, Gupith Mog etc etc literaly are copied from other singers like Great Wilfy Rembimbus. Artist need to have some origyinality, though the show was good need lot of improvements not to discourage you but just giving you suggestions because we like to see you going big, good luck lancy for upcoming, events do better compositions.

    Dear Lancy & Joseph Sir,
The show was excellent and especially Skits, Songs and dances. We enjoyed a lot. Appreciated again Joseph Mathias Konkani Music and other talent promotion event, and to bring new Konkani talented artists. Many people do not know about the show, place. Propaganda should have been made little bit more. (Those who not following internet.).
Great effort by my friend Lancy & Shyna Noronah, I know it is not easy to make a show and God bless his courage.
It is very nice to see almost all the singers gathered in one stage in unity.
Expecting more such a Konkani promotions in future, gathering all the Konkani speaking people together under one Umbrella in UAE.
We all support you Joesph Mathias & Lancy Family.
    Loving

    Lancy,

Yo are having amazing lyrics and catchy tunes, i just ask myself ' Kai haselloi Lancy thu?'Mr.Joseph Mathias thank you very much for introducing Lancy to Konkani stage. Lancy dont look back, you are having amazing talent, you are not only a composer, your lively presenter too.
Program i enjoyed, stage setting was nice, but Mc's dialog s are too much lengthy and due to this program was delayed and some of their acting i felt it was artificial.

No doubt this was one of the most unique shows, but I felt songs were too many, maybe you guys wanted to showcase many local talents. But the best part was there was no time waste on stage and no lengthy stage program. Very well organized show, all artists have done fair justice to their roles. Nice stage setup, music, songs were also good.
But special mention about the compeer duo Donny Corea and Asha who were very creative and lively on stage. We got to see something unique in Konkani shows.
Looking forward to more such shows. Hats off to Lancy & team.

Very nice program, complete entertainment, right from the program start till the end the flow was very good.
Stage setting, Music, Singers, Magician, were very good. Skits were hilarous...MC's were the highlight of the program, timing, language, and the control on the show was very good... Never felt anything was boring including the stage program...it was very short and sweet unlike any other regular nites... hats off to all.. Even though it was freee show..it was much better than paid show.
