Dubai: 39th annual get-together of UAE Bunts on April 26

Dubai, Apr 20: UAE Bunts will hold its 39th Annual Family Get-together on Friday April 26 at JW Marriott Hotel, Dubai, from 10.30 am.

The cultural celebrations are expected to be attended by over 1500 members from all over UAE and the Gulf.

The day-long fun-filled event will have variety of dances, music, skits, Yakshagana and 'Zodiac Fusion' fashion show presented by the family members. 

UAE-level folk dance competition will be the main attraction of the day. 

Ganesh Hegde, well-known choreographer of Bollywood, will be the chief guest along with Kudi Vasanth Shetty. Dr B R Shetty, the patron of UAE Kannadigas will preside.

Kudi Vasanth Shetty, teacher and recipient of national-level Best Teacher Award will be conferred with "Bunta Vibhooshana" Award by UAE Bunts on the occasion. 

 

About Ganesh Hegde

Born in Mumbai to Harish Subbaiah Hegde and Vidya Hegde, Ganesh Hegde is best known for his work in the Oscar-nominated film Lagaan and for his musical numbers in Company. Ganesh has choreographed many stage shows, namely Temptations 2004, the Bollywood rock concert which toured America with huge stars such as Shah Rukh Khan, Rani Mukherjee, Preity Zinta, Saif Ali Khan and Arjun Rampal.
 
He has been associated with the Zee Cine Awards since its inception and has been choreographing the Filmfare Awards for the past decade.

Hegde's famous choreographed sequences include "It's Magic" from Koi Mil Gaya, "Dum" from Dum, "Main Hoon Don" from Don - The Chase Begins Again and Chammak Challo from RA One .

Hegde is responsible for giving birth to the item numbers concept with songs like Mast Mahaul Mein Jeene De (Fiza), Babuji Zara Dheere Chalo (Dum), and Khallas (Company).

In October 2005 Ganesh released his debut album "G" with the backing and promotion of Bollywood star Shah Rukh Khan. He was the first Indian pop star to produce, write, direct and star in his debut music video (for his single Main Deewana).

Hegde has also performed with Asha Bhonsle on stage shows, and she has even sung with him in G. His second album Let's Party launched in August 2011 has tracks featuring Hrithik Roshan, Katrina Kaif, Bipasha Basu and Priyanka Chopra.

Hegde has also sung the rap Kaun Banega Crorepati promo song 'Ek Sawaal Ka Sawaal Hai ', for the third season of the show hosted by Shah Rukh Khan. The video was conceptualized and directed by Hegde.


About Kudi Vasanth Shetty

Kudi Vasanth Shetty, headmaster of Sri Vishnumurthy High School at Kudi village in Udupi taluk of Udupi district, is the recipient of the national-level Best Teacher Award, which was presented to him by President Pranab Mukherjee.

Shetty has been serving as the founder-headmaster of Sri Vishnumurthy School at Kudi since 1980. He is among the senior headmasters in Udupi district, having served in the post for the past 32 years.

Shetty had his primary education at Marne and Patla villages, and high school education at Moodubelle village. He did his BA at MGM College in Udupi, B Ed at Dr T M A Pai College of Education here, followed by MA in Kannada from the University of Mysore, while in service.

He has served as the president of district headmasters' association for five years and as its secretary for four founder-secretary years, and is also serving in the committees of temples in his hometown.
