Two pilots killed in Iranian jet crash

Moscow, April 22 (IANS/RIA Novosti): Two pilots were killed when a fight jet crashed in western Iran.

The Iranian US-made fighter jet F-5 crashed into Mount Filman near the town of Abdanan, some 450 km from Tehran. The bodies of both pilots were found at the crash site, said regional governor Morad Nasseri, Mehr news agency reported Sunday.

Investigators were working at the crash site, the governor said.

The jet fighter belonged to the Dezful airbase in the Khuzestan province.

Iran's Air Force employs US-made combat aircraft purchased before the 1979 Islamic revolution, and also Russia-made Sukhoi and MIG aircraft.
