Mangalore: Jilted lover stabs girl, absconds

Mangalore, Apr 23: A girl, who allegedly refused to give in to the demand of a youth to love him and agree to marry him, was stabbed by the disheartened lover. The injured girl was hospitalized for treatment on Monday April 22.

The 26-year-old injured girl hailing from Beltangady, whose name has been withheld, has suffered injuries to her hand and head. Umakanth, the accused youth, is absconding.

The girl had completed nursing education and used to work in a hospital here, and stayed in the house of a relative. Umakant, who works in a hotel, came to know the girl about six months back, after which there met a number of times, it is gathered.

On Monday, the girl was walking towards her hospital, when Umakanth approached her all of a sudden, and declared his unfettered love for her. He asked her to express her unconditional love for him, and to promise to marry him. When she refused, he stabbed her in her head and hand, before running away. The girl, who collapsed on the spot, was carried to a hospital by an auto rickshaw driver.

A murder attempt case was registered in Pandeshwar police station in the city against the youth, whose permanent address is yet to be ascertained.

    There is a few case who succeed in Love .. Out of 100 u can say just 1 or 2% . Love Success means after you get married to your own lover /girl friend you have to be with her till end of your life ... now a days i have seen many lovers who married and it last for only 1 year or max 2 years then they get divorce and find some one else .. Love means Trust And Peace .. My Opinion is In love just Trust each other and be calm and peace with your loved one . Good Luck

    As soon as a girl talks little bit freely many boys foolishly think that she loves him. So, girls be careful about this psychology of tapori boys. Only in films the tapori boys are loved by heroine. In real life this does not happen.

    The action of Umakanth is not worth to the civilized society. For loving also, there is certain standard. example an hotel employee, is he deserved for an educated girl. we must see the status, standards know? Blidnly forcing opposit party is meaningless.

    I saw myself and surprised about a girl who is BE in Electronics and now got PHD after marriage and she married a boy who is not competed 10 std till date and both are living peacefully life....

    Dear Clifford, I know a similar case from Udupi. Girl is BCom, MBA works for the Bank as Sr. Manager and the boy (now in his fiftees) is SSLC fail works as RTO broker, are married (happily or otherwise) for last 24 years. Unfortunately both are NOT Christians. Humanity is the religion.
