Bangalore: Stage set for '..Nathlyaa Vellar' Konkani thriller

Media Release

Bangalore, Apr 23: Sensational Konkani superhit play 'Aami Nathlya Vellar', originally written in Marathi by Madhusudan Kalelkar, will be staged in Bangalore on Saturday April 27 by the members of Daiji Rang Mandir. It will be the third show by the team, previously being staged in Dubai and Udupi.

Organizer Denzil Fernandes has said that there has been great response for the show from theatre lovers of Bangalore. "Even people from neibouring places like Mysore are enquiring about tickets," he says.

The play, a blend of comedy, emotion, wit and suspense has won the hearts of Konkani theatre lovers in UAE and Udupi.

Raju Fernandes of SPPE, Dubai is the main sponsor of the event.

The play, originally penned in Marathi by Madhusudan Kalelkar, is based on a true life story of a naval commander. The story also inspired at least three bollywood movies in the 1960s and 70s.

The late Ramananda Choorya, popular drama writer in Kannada had translated this play from Marathi to Kannada. The play was later translated to Konkani and Tulu too.

Amateur artistes from Dubai will be presenting this play.

"Rarely do the Mangaloreans in Bangalore get a chance to see some top class Konkani drama. The performance on April 27 will be remembered for a long time," says Thomas Saldanha, a member of the organising comittee. Thomas was earlier actively involved in social activities in Dubai.

The drama is being directed by famous Konkani personality Dayan D’Souza who is also acting in the play.  He loves his theatre and has been busy planning the overall production and direction to leave an impression on the Konkani lovers in Bangalore.

Veteran musicians Ketan D’Souza and Arun D’Almeida are handling the music.

The drama will start at 6.30 pm sharp on April 27 and will be performed at the indoor auditorium of St Joseph’s High School, Museum Road, opposite Post Office, Bangalore. Very few tickets are available.

Contact Lawrence Saldanha (9343797453), Godwin (9886550836) or Thomas Saldanha (9900700708) for your tickets.

A few tickets may be available at the venue on the day of the show.

Dubai’s successful entrepreneur Raju Francis Fernandes of SPPE is the main sponsor for the Konkani drama in Bangalore and will also be the chief guest. The Grand Magrath Hotel is the hospitality sponsor, while Ravisha electronics, Brilliant Printers, Acme Building Materials, Chilly Willy Trading and Raymond Quadros are supporting the event apart from others.

A not-to-be-missed drama thriller for every Konkani drama lover in Bangalore !
