Udupi: Woman in labour delivers in ambulance

Udupi, Apr 23: A woman, who was in labour, gave birth to a baby while being carried to the hospital in 108 ambulance on Tuesday April 22. The incident occurred near Moodubelle in the district.

The family members of Ammani from Pernankila village called for the ambulance to take her to the hospital. By the time the ambulance was dispatched, they had arranged for bringing the pregnant woman to the town in an auto rickshaw as she was in labour. She was shifted to the ambulance on the way, but when the vehicle was passing through Moodubelle, her pain became acute, and soon she delivered a baby.

Paramedical personnel manning the ambulance, Puttaraju, who attended to the woman, brought the child and the woman to the women and children’s hospital here thereafter. Both the mother and its mother are hale and healthy, it is learnt. Puttaraju also had to deal with a similar situation at Karkala a few months back, it is gathered.
