Narendra Modi shares dais with Ramdev, says no riots in Gujarat in last 12 years

Haridwar, Apr 26 (PTI): Gujarat chief minister Narendra Modi, who has been avoiding questions on the 2002 post-Godhra violence against Muslims, on Friday said there has been no riot in the state in the last 12 years.

Sharing platform with yoga guru Ramdev, he maintained that his model of governance was based on "welfare for all" but made no direct reference to the post-Godhra violence that claimed the lives of over 1000 people, an overwhelming majority of whom were Muslims.

"My manifesto is everyone should be healthy and welfare for all. In Gujarat (where) riots happened every other day and innocents were killed, today after 12 years there is not a sign of riots," he said.

The speech was delivered to a gathering, including a number of religious men, at yoga guru Ramdev's ashram here.

Modi, who generally avoids questions on the post-Godhra violence, has been accused by his detractors of having not taken any steps to stop the violence against Muslims after the train carnage in Godhra.

In his speech, Modi accused the Centre of virtually hounding Ramdev for his views that go against the government.

"I want to ask the rulers in Delhi whether it is wrong to put forward your views in a democracy. Is it wrong to have views that are diametrically opposite to that of the government," he said.

Referring to the death of a woman volunteer due to the injuries sustained in a midnight police action on Ramdev's followers on June, 2011 in the capital, Modi said "Rajbala (the woman who succumbed) is seeking reply from the government on the action.

"The people in the government are using indecent language against Baba Ramdev, who is serving the nation not only by with his yoga, but also with his movements (against black money)," Modi said.

Are you suggesting the other Chief Ministers to start the riots ( like 2002 ), then break the back bone, make the people voiceless and polarize the community as done by MODI. I suggest you read the comments of Aloka Nath Bengaluru, Dr Kiran VSA Udupi and Joseph D'Souza, Mangalore given here.

Mr. Modi is absolutly right in saying that there is not a single incident of riot in the last 12 years. The reasons could be:
    1. The one who is behind the riots is in power
    2. Riots were engineered so the the on who is at the helm of affairs now could continue to be in power
    3. What is the need of anymore riots when the intended goal has been achieved? The muslims in Gujrat are as good as dead since they continue to live in fear psychosis created by Modi. This also explains their support to him. They know that the best way to live in peace is to keep Modi in power so that he does not need to organise one more riot to come to power.

Rightly told by Narendra Modiji...When you try to disturb majority people..things go berserk.. It's indication to one and all..we are following 'AHIMSA'..but whenever/whereever things need..will go for even 'HIMSA'..!! Better try to behave in good manners..!! Now people of Gujarat including muslims are praising Modiji and they comes to know well what's gone wrong exactly..and whose fault..!! Before Godhra riots..earlier surat riots happened..due to people of other states doing nusiance...as more of people pour-in due to 'Diamond' city..!! Gujarat now model state for all others...!! Thanks to inaugurate 'Gurukul'..which we need now badly. First University in the world itself 'Takshila'..people around globe visiting to seek education..!! Hinduism is only religion in the world..is of GOD ...Times comes will know the difference.. Jai Hindustan...

Yes, good news there were no communal violence at all in Gujarath for last 12 years. How can there be violence when Modi has succeded in breaking the total back bone and made voiceless of all discent, polarised the community completely and singing the manthra of progress, and in the process making the state land of landless farmers. Nobody can dare open their mouth....

Dear Modi what makes you think Rajbala is seeking governments action and not those 1000 people who died 12 years back.
