Udupi, Apr 27: The Pangala hill along with many acres of fields in Aryadi caught fire on Friday April 26, however the reason behind the fire is yet to be ascertained.
The tragedy of the incident was when a woman was caught in the fire but she was later saved by the locals along with the fire brigade.
The fire posed danger to the houses in the area as the fire engulfed the dry fields surrounding them. Fire almost destroyed a house belonging to Gange Poojary as fire begin to flare around her house. Locals soon rescued her from the fire.
As per the information received, the fire spread upto 3 to 4 kms. The fire brigade from Udupi arrived at the spot and after a long battle for about 3 hours with the help from locals, the fire was diffused.
Kaup police arrived at the spot for investigation.
